Handmade Daft Punk helmet produces some stunning photo ops

The man you see above you, Harrison Krix from Volpin Props, spent the last year and a half making the Daft Punk helmet he's wearing in the shot. Now, maybe that sounds like a crazy way to spend your spare time -- but then again, the photo opportunities seem to be killer for this guy these days. I would try at add to the string of fancy comments, but I can't think of any song titles to reference.

Quick question: Did he do this for himself or for work? If he did it for and by himself, 17 months isn't that bad. I've been wanting to make a prop Proton Pack and found that it can take almost a year, and this is far more complicated. Dude deserves props for getting it done as quickly as he did.

@RincewindWiz If this guy were to sell it, people all Around the World would go crazy for it. But I'm pretty sure only people living the High Life would be able to afford it, or if you happen to be in The Prime Time Of Your Life then you could afford it too. Probably some dude from Phoenix or something. Definitely wouldn't be any Teachers, maybe some Rock 'n Roll star.

I wonder if it has Night Vision... or an On/Off switch.

I read the build blog for this a few months back and:

1. The guy built two. One on contract and one for his own use.

2. He does this kind of stuff a lot and charges accordingly.

3. The level of detail in his work is AMAZING.

well done! as for all the naysayers 17 months is not bad for a build. he had to build his mold from scratch so more then likely took a few times. as for the fiber glass it takes time to set properly.
