Palm enabling webOS apps to interact with Universal Search, dock mode?
When our own esteemed Paul Miller cracked the mystery that allows the Motorola Droid to behave differently when docked than when in the hand, it took a little of the magic out the switch. However, that doesn't diminish from its utility, and it's a feature that could be coming to webOS. PreCentral.net received a screenshot from a developer highlighting two new options for webOS apps: Universal Search-enabled and Dock-enabled. The first surely means that apps can provide content based on Universal Search queries, and we're going to go ahead and guess that the second enables an app to look and behave differently when docked. The question is: what's the dock? Is it just the Touchstone, or are there more docks coming? Here's to hoping.

woohooo First,but will it blend? Thats what she said, Apple fanboys
@bryoneill11
That has to be the worst first comment I have ever seen.
@bryoneill11
Normally you would be upranked for saying "Apple fanboys" , however you flopped when you said "first" , "will it blend" and "thats what she said".
May you be downranked in peace.
On topic , how about leaking some new webOS hardware? Event blurry cam pics would do .
@Accelerator No, they would've been down-ranked for spouting utter gibberish.
@bryoneill11 That sentence is really hard to read, its very strange.
@bryoneill11
You forgot:
Will it run crysis?
ANDROID IS BEST (capitals necessary)

a dock for my tablet, YES
Palm needs to give me a new damn phone!! That psp phone is looking mighty sexy right now!
@kaboomaboom
I'm so pissed about that! I wanted that with web-os.. Webos' multitasking, notifications system, and gestures would of made it perfect for a psp phone. But sony went with the most popular choice, instead of the better one. (which makes sense, considering how badly "going for the best" screwed them over with the ps3)
I thought of that integration back when the pre was first announced.
Meh.
Announce a new phone or GTFO.
Seriously.
Many stores said they weren't selling the touchstone anymore when I was trying to buy one a couple weeks ago, so maybe new dock?
I really REALLY hope they build the Touchstone brand out. It one of the best Smartphone accessory ever
@mrkalel I agree, Superman. I hope so too. Official Car docks, for instance, would be much appreciated. Auto-connecting via WiFi or BT to the PC and/or a BT connection to the dock (with an audio-out to speakers) that auto-connects when docked would also be neat.

@MrKal_El
Palm did say that Touchstone wasn't just a product, that it would be made into a brand. Hopefully with HP now backing them with cash this can happen.
WebOS phone with big screen, sturdy construction, 4G.
Ready..............GO!
Hoping it docks to success
As crazy as it sounds the Touchstone is one of the main reasons I'm reluctant to switch from the Pre.
I love the way it automatically turns on speakerphone when the phone is in the Touchstone and then automatically turns off speakerphone when you pick up the phone off the Touchstone. I also love how you can answer a phone call just by picking up the phone if it is in the Touchstone dock.
I'm worried that Android and WP7 handsets won't have this level of detail and finesse in their design.
@cool8man That's not crazy, I agree with you wholeheartedly. One of the things that made me pull up short of ordering an EVO was the very same thing. Palm really showed that they put some serious thought into the design of their accessory. I hope that they do expand the brand out more, because it's a great starting point that no one has managed to ape yet.
Dear olde Palm stop playing with your palm and gives us a new phone!
Wish they'd concentrate more on squeezing a higher-capacity battery in these phones. Really the only complaint I have against the Pre. Touchstone is the coolest!
c'mon guys put it together, the doc is the new palmtop computer. Or imagine this, ability to integrate mobile hotspotting/dock integration with the new webos tablets. Does webos allow a usb type ''dock'' or passthru display? (like a laptop/projector relationship). Under that scenario, Universal search, wouldn't that allow searching between tablet and phone device?
