WRUP: Our patch 4.0.6 reactions

Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!

Another wonderful weekend is upon us. How are you planning to spend it? In addition, I asked our staff for a quick reaction to patch 4.0.6. Do they love it? Do they hate it? Totally neutral? What about you, readers?

Adam Holisky (@AdamHolisky): For some very strange reason, I've started playing the Sims 3 again. I go through addiction phases with those games, and I think I'm wearing myself out on it again. In WoW, I'll be playing my warrior a lot; getting full 333 gear via the normal dungeons is high on my priority list. As far as 4.0.6 goes, I absolutely love the changes to my resto druid. It is so much more fun to play now -- I don't have to constantly worry about group healing tactics and pre-healing the tank at certain points during fights. I can play in a more reactionary way and also have a much less stressful time with it all. The new alchy stones have helped a metric ton, too.

Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart): Since there is no RIFT until Feb. 15, it's going to be a primarily WoW weekend for me. I've hit exalted with my guild on my main character, which means I can finally play my alts as much as I please. My warrior is who I'll be gearing up next, because I absolutely love protection warriors. As for patch 4.0.6 ... well, it was all right. Like I said in my retribution paladin column last week, this patch had some really nice changes, but ret still needs some adjustments. I'm not going to get too excited, for or against, until patch 4.1.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey): Doing more writing, doing a little raiding -- the usual, really. As far as 4.0.6 goes, I'm really indifferent about the whole thing. Nothing really affected my class/spec overly much, the new engineering changes are nice but not groundbreaking ... I just don't have a ton to be excited about this time around.

Basil Berntsen (@outdps): I'm going to be recording podcasts! And my reaction to 4.0.6 is that it's made me a ton of money, and they will probably nerf Aimed Shot.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb): With the new appearance pack out and the news that Clint Mansell's going to be doing the Mass Effect 3 soundtrack, I got the bug to play another ME2 game. He's an adept, faithful to Ashley, looks and acts like a total dudebro. The haste bugs are sort of harshing my mellow on patch 4.0.6, but I am liking a lot of the new UI improvements, and the fact that 2H frost isn't quite as much of a laughing stock outside of leveling anymore.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives): I'll be working on archaeology on my main and leveling my shaman.

Joe Perez (@Lodurzj): I'm taking the weekend off of WoW and diving into DC Universe Online full tilt for some much-needed doing of super-heroic deeds. This coming week is also my birthday, so I'll be taking the week off of raids and trying to have fun in the real world with friends and family (fun fact: this coming weeks Totem Talk: Restoration falls on my b'day). In celebration, I bought myself a new ukulele and a mandolin! I ... love ... patch 4.0.6. Resto shaman HPS has improved quite a bit compared to before the patch, and our tools feel better proportioned again. This makes raiding so much more enjoyable, and I was already having fun! Also, reduced flask mats makes me quite happy.

Josh Myers (@elamqt): In game, I'm working on leveling my frost DW/blood tank DK and leveling my paladin's alchemy to support my flask addiction. Out of game, I'm checking out P90X 'cause it sounds like an awesome idea and have a job interview on Monday. For the bonus question: I'm really happy with 4.0.6 so far, but I was predicting I would be for the past month or so!

Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra): I think this might be a WoW-light weekend for me. I'm craving some Steam time. As for the new patch, I'm pretty indifferent. Sure, I'm happy about a few things (and not thrilled about others), but all in all, it's pretty cool. Although I will agree that the dismounting "flourish" is a bit much.

Lisa Poisso (@emused): Not a lot of WoW this weekend -- free game time has sucked me back to revisit my crew in EQ and prepare for possibly trying a little ruining of the homelands on the Fippy Darkpaw progression server next week. Barrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk! As for the patch, I'm looking forward to things settling down; I like that the game has some mobility, but stability has it benefits as well.

Matt Low (@matticus): Leveling another priest. ... Yeah. Another one. What? Why you looking at me all funny? I can't have multiple priests? Why you hatin'?! Reaction to 4.0.6: Too busy casting many bubbles to respond! Discipline's really strong now. Loving the buffs.

Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo): Writing and raiding. Lots of fun. I think 4.0.6 is fine so far. Changes needed to be made. We'll know more once we get more time with everything.

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel): Playing my various alts, back pain permitting. I am mostly enjoying 4.0.6 but really want the game to be untouched for a while (except maybe to add content).

Sarah Nichol (@mentalshaman): I will be raiding and collecting archaeology bits and bobs. I might play some Europa Universalis III if I get a chance or finish off The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. My initial reaction to 4.0.6 was "happy," but after a night of interrupt duty, I'm feeling pretty grouchy.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
