One Shots: Nyctohylophobia
Most MMOs aren't trying to actively spook their players (unless the sight of sparkle ponies creeps you out), but The Secret World is an exception to that rule. In honor of TSW's launch week, today's One Shots is all about Funcom's new adventure-slash-puzzler MMO. Massively reader Drinkfist has gotten into the spirit of the game with today's featured screenshot. He writes in,
The Secret World just started, and the game looks amazing! This is a picture of the haunted forest in Blue Mountain. The Ghosts that inhabit it are especially rough as every 30 seconds they phase in and out of this world, changing their resistances.

Oh, fine, I won't make you look it up: Nyctohylophobia is the fear of dark, wooded forests. Drinkfist's second shot is exactly why people are nyctohylophobic, for the record. Because creepy.
Bolstering today's TSW lineup with a different setting altogether is Massively reader Cylus of the Gunbad cabal on the Huldra server. "This was taken right before my Cabal's first attempt at the last boss in Polaris, Ur-Draug," he says. "Pretty gnarly dude. Very fun fight."
Our final image, also sent in by Cylus, really proves how much a mood can be set with just the right combination of darkness and light. He explains,
This was taken in a dark parking garage for the first Illuminati faction quest. It's pitch black except for some cars and a trust miner's helmet. You have to follow a Templar agent who has somehow caught wind of a secret Illuminati meeting. You then have to fight off filth-covered Humans, shades, and a very large wendigo named The Devourer.
