The Queue: Is Fox leaving forever?

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) will be your host today.

Hey everyone! Gather the kids, because it's one of those "special event" things. Fox Van Allen is doing The Queue today and that's pretty darn exciting. OK, sure, it's not "hit the jackpot" exciting. It's a more gentle kind of exciting. Like the kind where if for a day Pat Sajak hosted Jeopardy! and Alex Trebek hosted Wheel of Fortune.

Anyway. Because I'm an egotistical jerk who has only been made even more insufferable by the blazing Los Angeles sun, I'm going to start this Queue off by answering a question about myself.

@thebmatt asked:

I just saw on @WoWInsider you [Fox] won't be writing the Shadow priest column anymore. True?

It's true. I won't be writing the shadow version of Spiritual Guidance or the auction house column Gold Capped anymore.

When I started writing for WoW Insider back in January 2010, I had a passion for World of Warcraft. I raided regularly. I theorycrafted. There wasn't a day that went by that I didn't log on to my shadow priest to play. Fast forward to August 2012. I still play WoW, but I've lost that passion for the game. And without passion, my writing suffers. I don't want to be putting out sub-par work.

I'm not hanging up my writing hat here entirely. I'm going to continue writing the What aRe yoU Playing column and will maintain my vigilance for providing you with the most entertaining filler in the business. And who knows? I might even take over The Queue again some day to answer lots more questions about me.

Chico R. asked:

Do we know if the ink trader is going away with the new patch (August 28th) I have a giant GIANT ink piled stored up, but its not quite where I want it to be right now and I was going to add more, but will start tarding now if its going away with the patch.

The ink traders aren't going away, but come 5.0.4, they'll no longer be very interested in your Blackfallow Inks. If you're itching to make some bulk trades, this would be the time.

But before you go giving away all that Blackfallow, consider this: It's hands down the most valuable ink right now. Why would you trade a 12g Blackfallow for a 7.5g Lion's Ink or even a 1g Moonglow Ink? Honestly, if I had a huge store of Blackfallow right about now, I'd just dump them on the auction house.

Garagmasnort asked:

I have a question for the queue. Am I the only WoW player who wishes that Mists of Pandaria was still a few more months off instead of just one?

Yes, you are. You are literally the only person in the world who wishes that. Literally. The only one.
