The Queue: Even more Theramore

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

The other night, an old Polish family on my block held a polka karaoke party. Most of the younger people (around my age) stood on their lawns gawking in the direction of polka house, unable to comprehend the festivities.

As a man of Polish upbringing myself, it made me hella nostalgic for hearing polka at my grandparents' house all of the time as a kid. Now I pass the polka on to you, ladies and gentlemen.

Enjoy.

stuart asked:

Why did the Horde bomb Theramore? I haven't been able to find anything that explains the reasons behind the Horde's actions.

It's all in the Tides of War novel. The Horde bombed Theramore because Garrosh Hellscream wants Kalimdor exclusively for the orcs/the Horde. Instead of waging a long campaign against Theramore, he just wiped it off of the map.

markificent asked:

Any idea what's going on with Jaina and Dalaran post-Tides of War/the Fall of Theramore? Has Jaina left the Alliance? Has Dalaran decided to (re)join the Alliance. I find it hard to believe that Jaina would choose now of all times to leave the Alliance, but at the same time, bringing Dalaran back to the Alliance would seem difficult, if only in terms of the amount of phasing that would be required for the city to be in two places "at once".

My interpretation is that Jaina and the Kirin Tor are still neutral, but anti-Garrosh. They want peace between the factions but see Garrosh Hellscream as a barrier that must be removed.

LL asked:

How do you deal with pre-expansion adversity? The community is really depressing me lately. I get that a lot of people aren't into this expansion. But I am. I think it looks really fun. Even though I've been playing for 5 years I still really like playing WoW. But everywhere I go people are constantly bringing me down. Telling people to quit and making fun of everything I'm excited about. What are some tips to avoid this and find places that still feel the same way I do (like WoW Insider)?

The World of Warcraft community hates every expansion. The one and only tip I can provide is don't worry about what those people complain about. If you're enjoying the game, continue enjoying the game. Let them complain. Don't try to convince them they're wrong, just do your own thing.

Revynn asked:

Maybe I missed it, is there an Amphitheater/Crucible/Ring of Blood quest in Mists? There wasn't one in the zones I played through, but Dread Wastes and Towlong were very unfinished at that point.

It's called the Arena of Annihilation, but unlike previous expansions' arena events, it isn't outdoors. It's a 3-man scenario.

yoojine asked:

how does the Theramore scenario compare to other scenarios in terms of length, content and difficulty?

The Theramore scenario is very bizarre. To me it seems shorter, easier, and less coherent than every other scenario in Mists of Pandaria. I love scenarios in Mists. I think they're super cool. Theramore does not do them justice and I'm having difficulty comprehending how this one turned out so bad.

It feels like the developers wanted to tie Tides of War into the game world, but didn't want to give you one single detail about what the hell happens in the book. So they plunk you into a very tiny sliver of story with no context or explanation and then rush you out the door before you can piece things together.

It really makes no sense. The Mists scenarios are much more interesting. It is doubly disappointing because the Theramore scenario is a real story moment, propelling the World of Warcraft narrative forward, but they didn't do anything compelling with it in-game. The more light-hearted scenarios in Mists of Pandaria seems to be where the developers worked hardest.

scuac asked:

Why on earth does the queue for the new Theramore's Fall scenario take 30+ min (did last night when I tried, gave up)? I thought scenarios could by done by any group of 3 people regardless of role, what is the reason for there being a queue?

There are two potential reasons for this that come to mind. One, the instance/scenario servers are full and you're in a queue until space opens up. Everybody is trying to run the scenario, so there's bound to be some overload there. The load being placed on the servers would be far above what they see on an average day.

The other is that it may be trying to do some weird matchmaking acrobatics, trying to put you with people who have similar gear, similar game experience, and so on.

The former seems more likely than the latter.

As a closing note, unrelated to the Q&A, a long-time reader is giving away a couple of Pandaren Monks on his new blog. Go forth, be kind, and win a thing!
