WRUP: Revenge of the boxes edition

It's more organized than this.

I was worried, rather legitimately, that when I moved into my new apartment, I would be facing an internet-free existence despite having called to set up a transfer two weeks prior. That worst-case scenario didn't come to pass. However, I am still sitting among a nightmarish pile of boxes that form corridors and alleyways through my space. Somewhere in those boxes is every important item that contributes to comfortable living. But at least I can clean that up while looking at cat videos.

Since I have the internet, I'm also able to type yet another inane introduction to WRUP, in which the Massively staff members discuss what they're up to over the next few days. We also give our impressions of the two most recent betas in five words -- or whatever other MMO-related topic strikes our fancy. So jump on down to see what we're up to for the weekend, and let us know your plans over the weekend in the comments!

Beau Hindman, F2P and Mobile Columnist

@Beau_Hindman: I'll be switching to Dark Legends for my next installment of Rise and Shiny. The energy mechanic deserves some more in-depth play, and I plan on putting it through its paces. I'll also be enjoying some Gemstone IV, finishing up some newbie quests with my Troll in EverQuest, and enjoying the new improvements made to the latest Istaria client. RuneScape put in a patch that helped greatly with FPS, so performance has made that game really fun again!

Guild Wars 2: Pretty blah but played little.

Brendan Drain, EVE Columnist and Contributing Editor

@nyphur: I was one of the people affected by EVE Online's recent criminal flagging bug during the Burn Jita event, so this weekend I'll be playing on an alt while I wait for GMs repair my sec status. I've also been on a bit of a retro kick this week, breaking out Master of Orion II and an awesome old Amiga game called K240.

Guild Wars 2 beta event in five words: Too excited for Diablo III.

Bree Royce, Senior Editor

@nbrianna: Don't think I'll be gaming this weekend, but I might squeeze in some World of Warcraft or wander back to a single-player game. Skyrim's been beckoning me.

Guild Wars 2: Flaming arrows of doom! Sweet!

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

I'll be spending a good portion of this weekend unpacking in my new apartment, which will include such fun games as Where Is My Laptop Charger Packed, Why Did We Pack Our Comics In With A Toothbrush, and I Will Now Fall Asleep While Standing From Exhaustion (Digital Deluxe Edition). Other than that, it's going to be Final Fantasy XIV, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and some Mass Effect 3 multiplayer mixed with my third series-long playthrough.

Guild Wars 2: Not bad, buy after launch.

Elisabeth Cardy, Guild Wars 2 Columnist

@elixabethclaire: Some more Aion for me. I really missed my Sorcerer, Chanter, and Gladiator. I'll be running around, killing adorable and not-so-adorable creatures and wishing I were playing a certain game without mana as a skill resource.

GW2 beta in five words: Either "Take my money -- oh wait" or "Launching cattle for the win."

Jef Reahard, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

EVE and a little Age of Conan/Lord of the Rings Online double-shot for me.

Five words for the TERA beta? Aion minus wings plus cleavage.

Jeremy Stratton, Contributing Editor

@Jeremy_Stratton: It's the end of the semester, and I've been on a bit of a video kick with recording commentaries and researching ways to spice up my livestreams. I'll also be concentrating on EverQuest II and Vanguard for my gameplay.

GW2 beta event in five words? Enjoyed, but third-person shooter.

Justin Olivetti, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: With Guild Wars 2 out of the way, I can settle down for some serious leveling with my Bounty Hunter in Lord of the Rings Online and my Captain in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Huh... those almost kind of work when put that way. Jawa in Middle-earth would just rock.

GW2 beta event in five words: Holy googly moogly this rocks!

MJ Guthrie, Aion and Sandbox Columnist

My first non-psycho-busy weekend... I must celebrate! I will be prancing about City of Heroes this weekend for Choose My Adventure and learning to fly (but I ain't got wings). I also will be checking out more of the rifting event in Aion and possibly finding a way to roll an Asmodian chanter (Spirit Master just isn't working for me -- make heals, not nukes). Then I shall attend the events in Lord of the Rings Online and slip some time in for EverQuest II decorating. Oh, gaming, how I have missed you!

For my TERA experience: Tutorial, fight boss, almost... psych!

Shawn Schuster, Editor-in-Chief

@Epykbeard: I'm enjoying my time in TERA so far, so I'll be playing that. It's weird because I'm such a hardcore sandbox fan, but the stark contrast to that in TERA appeals to me -- for now at least. I don't see it holding my attention forever, but it's fun without really making you think too hard. I'm actually hoping to see the political system one day, but that'll take a while at my slow leveling pace.

And the GW2 beta in five words? What class to play first?!

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist

@terilynns: Star Trek Online's featured episode reruns began this week with the Devidian missions. I'll be earning the Ophidian Cane (referred to as "the snake-pimp-cane-of-death" by our fleet) on the alts I created since the last time the cane was made available. I still haven't been able to play the new Vault mission due to the fact that it's a scheduled event and I just don't play games on other people's time-tables. I play on my own.

I didn't play GW2, so here are my five words: Effluent. Kerfuffle. Hootenanny. Protuberance. Fart.

Oh, five game-related words? My words are STO-related: Will work for Lobi crystals.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
