One Shots: It's the shades

One Shots Shot through the heart!

The Guild Wars franchise is infamous for its crazy outfits and gear, from banana scythes and librarian spectacles to jack-o'-lantern hats and... whatever the heck this is supposed to be. So it's no surprise that Guild Wars 2 is following in its elder sibling's footsteps! A reader named Darla sent One Shots this image of her character from the very last beta event before launch, along with this note:

This is a screenshot of the final big event of the third beta weekend event, Hunger Royal. You can tell by the smile that the glasses make her feel badass.

I was thinking the hot pink gun might have something to do with it too, but the sunglasses are pretty awesome! Darla's shot and a few others await you behind the break if you dare.

Who says you need a cutting-edge rig to play the latest MMOs? Wynchester Black sure doesn't. Here's a pic of his from The Secret World, one he says proves the game "looks good even on lower graphic settings," and I think you'll agree. As a bonus, he sent us a snippet of some spooky but lovely quest text related to the area:

"Shadows, long shadows, from the old boughs of the fairy forest, the flickering lights of the foolish fire guiding your path. 'Come, come!' they beckon."

Move over, sparkle ponies! I'm a big fan of realistic-looking mounts in games, and Lord of the Rings Online delivers. Reader Carol sent us this screenshot of a Mearas that appeared in Bree-land thanks to the preview deed that accompanied her expansion pre-purchase.

Carol - LOTRO

Our last shot of the week is in honor of the Mists of Pandaria launch date announcement. "Let me introduce HoneyLove, my level 25 Hunter in World of Warcraft," says contributor Johanis. "She's just arrived in Duskwood and decided to choose a black widow named Charlotte as a new pet. Duskwood can be spooky, but I have a feeling Charlotte will keep her safe. Wish her luck!"

Keep those One Shots coming, and don't despair if we haven't posted yours yet. I like to keep a proper hoard of them for just the right moment!

Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to oneshots@massively.com, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
