Nadeo's multiplayer shooter and shooter construction kit Shootmania Storm will be released on PC January 23. A new beta, featuring several software updates, will begin in December, open to players who sign up on the website, and to all who pre-order the full game.
The new beta adds a "Welcome Build" for new players, a couple new game modes, and new moves like "Laser Jump," "Wall Jump," and "Grappling Hook." It also allows players to import 3D objects into their levels, and create tournaments in-game.
Beta 2 to be launched in December 2012
SAN FRANCISCO – November 2, 2012 – Today, Ubisoft and Nadeo revealed that ShootMania Storm, the online multiplayer first-person shooter for Windows PC, will be available for download on January 23, 2013. ShootMania Storm will enter its second Beta phase in December 2012.
• ShootMania Updates
o New moves (Laser Jump, Wall Jump, Grappling Hook and more)
o New Game modes: Victory and Fortress
o Opening of the "Welcome Build": The "Welcome Build" is a specific game build especially designed to offer an easy introduction to ShootMania Storm for newcomers, giving free permanent access to the Royal and Elite game modes. At launch, it will be free and available to all, but from October on, it will allow all ManiaPlanet existing players to send invitations to their friends who will then be able to download that client. This experience will remain on invitation until ShootMania Storm launches.
The Beta 2 will introduce new game features as well as new tools brought by the updated ManiaPlanet hub:
• ManiaPlanet 2.0
o 3D Objects imports in the map editor
o ManiaCup: This "eSports 2.0" tool allows all players to easily create tournaments inside ManiaPlanet, including player registration and prize pool management
o ManiaTeams: Players will be able to register their team inside ManiaPlanet, track the team statistics and register teams to tournaments
Developed by Ubisoft's Nadeo studio, ShootMania Storm follows the footsteps of TrackMania, Nadeo's successful arcade racing game, to present a new dimension in first-person shooter. As part of the ManiaPlanet platform, ShootMania Storm puts players at the center of their gaming experience. To date, players have created more than 15 game modes and already designed more than 20,000 maps using ManiaPlanet's proprietary map editor.
ShootMania Storm is already very active on the e-sports scene, recently participating in an IGN Pro League (IPL) event at PAX Prime 2012. Currently, ShootMania Storm is playable at the MLG Dallas, Texas event this weekend. On November 29, ShootMania Storm will be included in the IPL 5 tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
