The Queue: It isn't old, it's tradition

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

If you missed the announcement yesterday, WoW Insider is hiring. Many questions about the process (and position) were asked and answered in the comments of that post, so if you're thinking about applying, make sure you read those.

Dondle asked:

I'm interested in applying for the open WoW Insider position. Is it better to get my application in early? Does it matter?

As long as you get your application in before the deadline of January 8, you're fine. Getting your application in early won't really give you any sort of advantage -- and I actually recommend not trying to get your application in as early as possible. We find that most people who apply on the first day or two end up submitting rushed, messy applications. Take your time. Make sure you're showing us your best work. Don't submit a sloppy application purely so you can shout, "first!"

We get a lot of applications whenever we do a hiring call. You can't afford to rush yourself. Just hit that deadline.

Dana asked:

Does having your character /sit in PvP allow for a greater chance of being critically hit? I hear this from some players, though I am reticent to believe such malarkey.

When you're sitting, all incoming damage has a 100% chance to crit. I believe it's intended to add some element of risk to eating/drinking in PVP, particularly world PVP. If you're on a PVP realm, you should be watching your back when you sit down to regen some health -- you don't want to give a skulking rogue a free ambush crit.

Azvolrien asked:

For the August Celestials dailies, does everyone on a realm get sent to the same temple each day? I'm halfway through revered reputation, and I've only seen the White Tiger dailies once - will everyone on my realm be experiencing this too?

Yep, everyone else will be having the same experience.

RichMorgan asked:

While doing Operation: Shieldwall or Domination Offensive, is there any way to get rep with those factions other then the quests? I keep seeing posts about quests and what not that they are hotfixing, but I haven't done them and I have done the quests every day since the patch broke.

It's almost entirely quests. You do your dailies, then every few days you'll unlock a standard quest that reveals a piece of the overall story of these factions.

@elepheagle asked:

We now keep momentum if we dismount from a flying mount while moving. What's the general sentiment at WI re: this "new feature?"

I love it, personally. I still haven't completely adjusted to it and have a bad habit of nearly killing myself by overshooting cliffs and rooftops, but I still love it. Hurtling myself off of my mount at flight speed feels awesome.
