ActiveVideo Unveils 'CloudTV Access' Developer Program to Optimize Next-Gen TV User Experiences
CloudTV Cloud-Rendering Platform Delivers the Same Advanced User Experience to Any Screen

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ActiveVideo Networks™ today announced the launch of its "CloudTV Access™" developer program, an initiative designed to accelerate the design and deployment of advanced HTML5 user experiences for millions of users on CloudTV™-enabled Smart TVs, set-top boxes and other CE devices.
The CloudTV Access program leverages the "write-once, deploy-everywhere" content creation environment of ActiveVideo's CloudTV™ platform to cut app time-to-market by as much as 80% for connected device manufacturers and virtual service providers, as well as cable and IPTV operators. Developing on the CloudTV platform is easy, but the program is designed to help developers who are experienced with HTML5 development on the Web make the transition to television while providing them with the CloudTV tools and resources needed to quickly create cross-platform HTML5 user experiences that can be scalably streamed to any device.
CloudTV is the best-performing, lowest-cost platform for the multiscreen delivery of advanced user interfaces. The latest version, CloudTV H5™, leverages HTML5 browsers in remote servers to render the most advanced user experiences in the cloud and stream them uniformly to connected TVs, Blu-ray players, tablets and smartphones, as well as set-top boxes ranging from the oldest QAM- to the newest IP-based devices.
ActiveVideo Networks will highlight the features of CloudTV H5 and the CloudTV Access program during a special presentation as part of the Developer University at the 2013 CES. The ActiveVideo presentation will be conducted from 11:30 – Noon on Thursday, January 10 in Room S228 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
"Our ability to create the ideal mix of device and cloud resources has resulted in a platform that completely changes the economics of television content creation," said David McElhatten , senior vice president, studio and services for ActiveVideo Networks. "CloudTV H5 ensures that developers have the fastest-possible development environment for rich, low-bandwidth user experiences on any Smart TV, connected device or STB."
A two-stage program, the CloudTV Access program begins with consultation sessions between the developer and the ActiveVideo development team and access to development tools and services, APIs and JavaScript libraries, as well as assistance in creating an initial application as specified by the developer. Partners who continue with the program receive priority access to new releases and tools, preferred roles at ActiveVideo developer gatherings, access to the CloudTV Premium Development Kit, and the opportunity for their apps to be showcased at trade shows and other public ActiveVideo events.
