One Shots: To those left behind

One Shots To those left behind

Good games may get cancelled, but as long as we have screenshots, they're never truly forgotten! Reader John sent us in this blast from the not-too-distant past that some of you may recognize.

"While going through some old screenshots, I came across a few from Tabula Rasa," John shared. "It was taken in November of 2007 as Veracious Pearl was ready to do some fighting."

Sadly, that soldier never made it out of the war. That doesn't mean we've given up fighting, however! Knock down a few mobs in the name of Veracious Pearl today, and when you're done, you should check out the rest of today's One Shots troops.

Meanwhile, the party must go on, and who better to throw a shindig than the good folks in Lord of the Rings Online? Reader Harper sends us in this hot picture that features not only something that probably shouldn't be done indoors but a hat that should only be worn indoors.

Harper explains: "The Twelfth Night ball is an event on Landroval hosted by the Lonely Mountain Band. Harper Mousie was chosen to be the Jack of the ball. Such virtual worlds are made to be savored!"

I totally agree. All hail Middle-earth!

Wakfu was one of the underrated gems of 2012, so it's good to hear from players who are exploring that quirky world. Reader Derrick sent us in this picture of his character Drognak embracing Earth Day to its fullest.

"Just a screenshot of my character cutting from trees to plant more. It's in the first area for the nation Bonta, and wood's always low," he said.

If you listen very carefully, you can hear the Lorax weeping in the distance.

Reader AdeptusEnginus has our weekly Guild Wars 2 screenshot along with the story of its discovery:

"Going through cooking on my alt after they made the change to what could be bought from karma vendors, I've come to find that the devs have hidden various cooking ingredients at hearts across the world, making me go to places I wouldn't have gone any time soon so that I could pick up a big ol' sack of coconuts.

"Today I had the privilege of trekking to the beautiful, semi-frozen/semi-wetlands planes of Timberline Falls so that I could help out a remote Hylak village and ask politely for a sack of shallots in return. As I approached, however, I was struck by this sight of the village from afar. Maybe it's the mountains in the background complementing the forest or the sight of the trees dotting the far-off landscape, but for some reason, this scene gave me reason to pause an otherwise hectic schedule of world-travel for delicious goods to just take in the moment.

"Naturally, upon arriving, I came to discover the Krait had decided to ruin my moment by attempting to overtake the village and kill its leader. I demonstrated my crossness toward them with a few blunderbuss shots to the face. I hope they didn't mind."
