One Shots: Bring out your dead

One Shots Bring out your dead

Ah, nothing like a pile of rotting stiffs to start your day off right, I always say! So nice of considerate readers to send me such pictures in my email. Maybe it's a somber commentary on the fragility of life and the tragedies that go unnoticed around us daily. Maybe it's somebody trying to gross me out. I'm good either way.

Reader Volska clues us in: "Talk about morbid. Here's a screenshot of some piles of corpses from the Guardian starter area in RIFT. No happy welcoming party here."

With a start like that, what other pictures will we have to share? It's a wild and wooly One Shots, and it all starts after the jump!

That's no moon... it's a Charr citadel! And its shields are still operational! And the more it tries to tighten its grasp, the more Charr systems will slip through its fingers!

OK, enough random Star Wars references. I am surprised at the blatant theft of intellectual property by Guild Wars 2, however. What's next, tree-dwelling innocent creatures?

"My character is in quiet contemplation of the heroes that have gone before," Reader Dana wrote. Also, fluffy tail!

A fellow guildie of mine who should never, ever be trusted to hold the same opinion on an MMO in any given two consecutive weeks sent in this red-tinged shot of an escape from the underworld. Note that yours truly was present for this escapade but apparently wasn't cool enough to make the screenshot. I AM NOT BITTER.

Mark paints the picture: "Knights of Mercy went through hell in The Secret World tonight. With the help of Wicker, we helped save Earth from demons for another day."

I am never forgiving you, Mark. Never ever ever.

Reader Vexia sent us in several great Glitch screenshots. We'll show this one today because I love the fact that the title paid tribute to old-school video games while allowing a woman to express her fondness for cute hogs.

"Here is a shot from late alpha testing with old-style, un-customizable housing," Vexia said. "My character is hanging out leisurely in her house, basking in the adorableness that is a just-hatched piglet. In Glitch, piggies were born from eggs."

That's all we've got for today, folks! There's no reason to read Massively until next week's installment, so back to your hibernation chambers with the lot of you!

Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to oneshots@massively.com, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
