EVO 2013 full of upsets and fantastic finishes

This past weekend's EVO Championship Series saw fightin' folks from all over the globe engaged in fierce competition. Check out a compilation of the grand finals for just about each game after the break, along with a summary of who came out on top in games like Super Street Fighter IV AE, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and, of course, Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition Version 2012

DM.MCZ|Xian won in Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition with his Gen. He was the only player to make top placement using Gen. Xian swept MCZ|Tokido's Akuma for top honors, while third place went to Infiltration, last year's winner who utilized both Akuma and Hakan in this year's tournament.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

None of last year's top three placed in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. FS.EMP|Flocker bested EG|Justin Wong with his lineup of Zero, Vergil and Hawkeye for the gold, while Angelic's team-up of Wolverine, Dormammu and Shuma-Gorath ended up securing third place. Zero and Vergil proved quite the compliment at EVO this year, with six of the top-placing players representing the two in their lineups.

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Superman propelled VxG.EMP|KDZ to victory in Injustice: Gods Among Us, pushing Crazy DJT88's combination of Green Lantern and Doomsday down to second place. AGE|NYChrisG's Green Arrow and Black Adam took third place in Injustice, which made its EVO debut this year following release back in April.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Super Smash Bros. Melee, the stream for which Nintendo tried to pull before quickly giving in to the vocal outpour of the community, proved Mango as the superior player at EVO this year. He bested all comers with Fox and Falco. Wobbles came in second with the Ice Climbers, while CT|Hungrybox's Jigglypuff took third.

King of Fighters XIII

The King of Fighters XIII returned this year, crowning AS|Reynald top player after dispatching Woo in a tense final match. Third place went to CafeId.RZR|MadKOF, last year's overall winner.

Street Fighter X Tekken Version 2013

It came down to Infiltration and EGIJustin Wong in cross-over brawler Street Fighter X Tekken, with Infiltration walking away champion for the second year in a row. MOV ended up rounding out the top three by claiming third place.

Persona 4 Arena

Yume bested all in Persona 4 Arena at EVO, winning the final match against Lord Knight in this game's debut year. Third place went to BananaKen, one of two players who placed while playing as Shadow Librys this past weekend.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Tekken Tag Tournament 2's top brawler was CafeId|Knee, who cycled through three different team-ups while ascending the EVO ladder. CafeId|Knee ended up taking down Eightarc|Bronston's Ogre and Jinpachi tag-team in the final match, with bronze honors going to AGE|StringBean.

Mortal Kombat

Crazy DJT88 brought the heat with his Cyrax, a character who was frequently seen in the initial pools but only appeared in the winners bracket with two players. Crazy DJT88 bested VxG.EMP|REO's Kabal to become champion in the end. Mortal Kombat's third place winner was My God 88, who used both Sonya and Liu Kang – another pair of characters well represented in the pools but not so much in placement.

The last two games to round out the list at this year's EVO were Skullgirls and Divekick, the winners of which – as well as the full list of all participants' placement – can be seen over on Skoryuken through the source link below.
