Knytt Underground, Pure Chess coming to Wii U eShop

Knytt Underground, the curious game of subterranean exploration, will come to the Wii U eShop, courtesy of indie publisher Ripstone. Originally developed by Nicklas 'Nifflas' Nygren for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, Knytt Underground borrows and occasionally mocks the structure of games like Super Metroid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and other victims of their pervasive portmanteau.

Ripstone has also announced a downloadable Wii U version of Pure Chess, a classic game in which two dueling kings send out L-shaped horses and cylindrical rookies until a "gotcha" is declared. It's been a while.

Knytt Underground and Pure Chess will be available on the Wii U's eShop near "the end of 2013/start of 2014."

Pure Chess is being developed for both Wii U & Nintendo 3DS by the talented team at VooFoo Studios, and aims to reflect the beauty and depth of the widely respected game. Chess is one of the world's most played, popular and recognized games and to reflect this, Pure Chess was developed with the aid of a chess Grandmaster, the highest title a chess player can attain. The game aims to appeal to a wide audience with various tutorials to allow beginners to take part, improve their chess skills and become a Grandmaster in their own right.

Knytt Underground is the brainchild of Nicklas 'Nifflas' Nygren and is being developed for the Wii U platform by Mathias Kærlev; you can also vote for Knytt Underground on Steam Greenlight. The game puts you in the shoes of Mi – a mute, but extraordinary sprite; with an array of thrilling quests to complete, unique zen-like gameplay and plenty of dynamic characters to meet and guide you on your adventure; Knytt Underground delivers a captivating and unparalleled experience that will not disappoint.

Both Pure Chess and Knytt Underground are currently available on the PlayStation®Network for PS3 and PS Vita.
