3DS Light Blue, Gloss Pink models announced for Japan

Boys and girls in Japan can look forward to new Light Blue (above) and Gloss Pink (below the break) variants of the 3DS, which are sure to do no harm to the ever-growing sales figures in the country. The brightly colored handhelds come with 4GB SD cards rather than the typical 2GB, and will be released on March 20 for ¥15,000 (around $163). There's no word as yet on the models heading westwards.

The new color choices do seem a bit gendered, but, as British quiz show QI revealed, up until the 20th century pink was the traditional color for boys, and blue for girls. So if they do come here and you're a boy who fancies the Gloss Pink model or a girl the Light blue, just remember that in the 19th century you'd have been in concurring company - but since the consoles are only confirmed for Japan, this is all hypothetical babble anyway. Oh well.
