The Queue: Such wondrous things to show you

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

I'm making a board game with a haunted spaceship, taking a fair bit of inspiration from this classic.

Nocjin asked:

Mechanical pets are weak to elemental attacks, and their attacks are weak against elemental pets. No other pet type has this double disadvantage, is it not getting changed?

Blizzard has discussed possible changes to the Mechanical type (and also some adjustments for other types) but I don't think anything has been officially changed on the PTR yet.

lib.feathers asked:

what do you think are the chances that Blizz will have another writing contest? Barring that, what are the chances that someone else - maybe a fansite like, oh, idk, Wowinsider or something - might hold a writing contest? Us writers are really getting the short end of the stick with the contest thing.

I wouldn't expect another writing contest anytime soon -- I believe the guy doing the brunt of the work for that particular event was laid off with the Blizzard 600 a while back. And it's a lot of work. As for us, well ... for legal reasons, doing a contest that isn't a random giveaway is also a lot of work. But I won't count it out completely.

lackinganame asked:

any word on when the virtual tickets for blizzcon are going up?

There's no official announcement yet, but I'm sure we'll hear about it sometime in the net *checks watch* three months.

Alexey asked:

How can EK be whole known world in W2 if there were elves in alliance?

I know they were Quel'Thalas elves, but they still came from Kalimdor originally, so they sure knew it exists.

Simple: before WC3, Kalimdor -- that is, the idea of Kalimdor -- didn't exist. Elves were just from "northern Azeroth". Their Kalimdor origin is basically a retcon, though a pretty acceptable one.
