WRUP: Temporarily content edition

In three months, this will be funnier.

At the beginning of the year, we talked to you about what we were going to do with WRUP, which consisted of several things you didn't ask for and very few of the things you actually wanted. Now that we've had half of a year to provide you with a rotating schedule of absurd nonsense that doesn't connect with anything else or tie into a larger theme, we've decided that we're tired of your being upset about that.

Starting now, we're undergoing a course correction. What does that entail? Well, it means that we'll be providing more topical WRUP headers instead of the usual strings of incoherent nonsense. But don't worry; we'll still have plenty of incoherent nonsense available. So you can feel like there's an impact on a dynamic string of nonsense syllables, as we said we would do back in the beginning of the year.

We're still committed to bringing you a weekly update on what the Massively staff is playing, though. Check that out past the break.

Brendan Drain, EVE Columnist and Contributing Editor

@nyphur: I need someone to please tie me down for the remainder of the Steam summer sale; I have already bought about twenty games and they just don't stop coming. This weekend I'll be giving DUST 514 another attempt, checking out RuneScape's upcoming complete overhaul, and alleviating my purchasing guilt by playing a few of those new Steam games.

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: I see Cube World and maybe Guild Wars 2 in my near future, with a side of the new Skyrim character I'm rolling. Got my mods all set!

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: I didn't go as crazy as some people with the Steam summer sale, but I still wound up buying several games -- Tomb Raider, Remember Me, To The Moon, Alan Wake, and a few others. I'll be playing some of those, as Final Fantasy XIV is not in testing and the Gree event in Star Wars: The Old Republic won't be back until Tuesday.

Jasmine Hruschak, Multimedia Contributor

@irljasmine: I long for the brightly colored world of Catpersontopia. Wait, no. Eorzea. That's it. Eorzea. To fill the gap between Final Fantasy XIV betas I'll be focusing on leveling in World of Warcraft and RIFT with a solid side of Steam summer sale madness. Precious, precious deals

Justin Olivetti, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: I have a hankering for some RIFT spankerings... time to get to level 55 and show that Crucia a thing or two about messing up the neighborhood! I also need to get a move on some of those limited-time Guild Wars 2 achievements before they go away. Belching contests are my specialty!

Matt Daniel, Contributing Editor

@mvmatt: Now that my time with EverQuest II has officially come to a close, I'm going to be spending this weekend trying to reintroduce myself to The Secret World. Maybe this time I'll actually be able to make it through Egypt (ugh). Other than that, I'll probably dabble in some World of Warcraft and/or Guild Wars 2.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: Steam's summer sale has destroyed me. Maybe I'll check out The Secret World. Maybe I'll play some Dota 2. But most likely I'll be playing any one of the dozen or so titles I picked up during Valve's yearly wallet raid. I bought Dishonored two times... someone please help me.

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I am going to have a more relaxing, easy-going time after my marathon guardian hunt in The Secret World last weekend. I'll be doing a few more missions in TSW and getting back into some house decorating in EverQuest II. Of course, there's doubled XP in EQII so I may throw in some crafting as well. Dang, I have so many things to finish before EverQuest Next comes out! I might even head into Star Wars: The Old Republic and enjoy some of my story missions, which I am woefully behind on thanks to those double XP weekends.

Patrick Mackey, League of Legends and Age of Wushu Columnist

@mackeypb: I'm mostly playing League of Legends this week, with some random stuff I picked up in Steam sales. I wish I could say I was doing something interesting in LoL, but I'm really not. I've been playing Syndra and she's really fun, but I mostly picked her up because she's hot (and her mechanics are cool) and she's not really a character I am going to play a lot in any game mode. I like her anyway, though. She's hot.

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: This weekend I will be playing a little bit of Guild Wars 2 before sauntering off for a short vacation. I'm trying to wrap up the Bazaar of the Four Winds achievements, so I'll be challenging the various masters of Belcher's Bluff. I also need to salvage all of the things in order to earn my monthly achievement rewards. The hellfire shoulders will be mine!

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist

@terilynns: I will, as usual, be jumping into Star Trek Online this weekend, and if time permits I'll be playing a bit of The Secret World as I've joined a new cabal with people who are extremely patient and will be teaching me a lot. Oh, and in case you were wondering -- Illuminati.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
