The new ASUS PadFone Infinity hands-on
Today ASUS unveiled a new PadFone Infinity with an updated Snapdragon 800 processor, microSD slot, and a few other external design tweaks. It seems, based on the minor changes, that the company is pretty set on its eccentric phone-in-tablet idea. So is it worth the upgrade? Interestingly enough, since the tablet part of this duo remains almost identical to its predecessor, users can just swap the phone. Still, while the big screen is the same, the small one is shiny and new, so head on up and read all about it.
Nokia teases 'innovation reinvented' event on October 22nd
Today -- after news last night of Nokia delaying its Lumia 1520 launch -- we've gotten official word that the company plans to hold an "innovation reinvented" event on October 22nd. We're not sure if it's got anything to do with the recent Microsoft acquisition, or if it'll pertain to 1520's postponement. We do know that the invite showing a guy skiing on sand has us intrigued. Regardless of what Nokia has in store, you can be sure that we'll be there to cover the whole thing live.
Windows 8.1 will start at $120 if you're not upgrading from Windows 8
We already heard that Windows 8.1 (unofficially dubbed Windows Blue) will be a free update if you have previously installed Windows 8 on your computer. What we didn't know was how much the new version would cost for those not already on the Windows 8 bandwagon. Turns out, the price for software luddites looking to take the plunge is $120. Apple offering 'last compatible version' of iOS apps for older hardware
With the imminent arrival of iOS 7 tomorrow, some of you with unsupported devices may be wondering how app support will work for you in the future. Well, as first spotted on Reddit, Apple has instituted some new compatibility features to help ease the transition. Upon trying to download an app that is unsupported with your current firmware, the App Store will ask if you'd like to install the last compatible version, which, for some apps can be over a year old.
