Announcing our Expand Throwback winners!

About a month ago, we kicked off our Engadget Expand Throwback photo competition. The contest is a celebration of tech past as we gear up for the future at Expand New York this November. Now we're ready to reveal the winners. Check them out, along with a little history behind the photos posted to our Instagram account after the break.

Richard H. of Coloma, MI has been lucky to experience many "firsts" over the past 30 years. In 1999, after watching Pirates of Silicon Valley, he wanted a piece of the past to call his own, and these classic Microsoft mice fit the bill.

Shawanda C. of Miami, FL can't part with one of her best friends, Teddy Ruxpin, even though he's since parted with some of his face. He might be missing his nose, but the bear she received from her grandmother as a child is still full of memories.

When Paul R. of Tampa, FL started driving a 1976 Cadillac Deville, he discovered this 8-track gem.

Before he passed away, Kelly M. of Buffalo, NY's grandfather gave him this Atari. Kelly plugged it in one day and it worked like a charm.

Our grand prize winner, Anna P. of Des Plaines, IL made everyone at the recent New York Fashion Week jealous by rocking a classic Motorola Bag Phone. We'd guess that around 15 Texas-assembled Moto X phones could fit into that case.

Congratulations to all the winners. Our grand prize winner will be heading in style to Engadget Expand New York, while our 2nd through 5th place winners score a $250 Gift Card to update their retro tech.

If you didn't win this time, don't worry -- we'll have many more opportunities as we get closer to Engadget Expand New York, so stay tuned to our Twitter, Facebook and Google+ in the lead up to the big event on November 9th and 10th.
