WRUP: The hot, big news
Not every week is packed with exciting news. But this week, our intrepid WoW Insider staff will take you through the week's biggest hits. It's kind of like a weekly news recap, but with Twitter headers. Don't forget to hit the comments and tell what you're playing this weekend! Anything from GTA to Pac-Man counts, and we want to see it all!
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I may see if I can work on farming Shaohao reputation this weekend -- I have nearly enough Timeless Coins for the mount, I just don't have the reputation to get it yet! That, and I'm kind of tempted by the Steam sale for The Secret World that Mike Sacco mentioned on Twitter -- it's 50% off, and I might just have to check it out. Biggest news this week would probably have to be that the book I worked on is out now -- I'm terribly pleased about that one!
Adam Koebel (@bendakwow) In WoW I'll probably do some more attempts at getting to wave 30 of endless mode on proving grounds. Already done most of my raiding for the week. Outside of WoW, I might put some time into Mass Effect 3 since I haven't played any of the new DLCs yet. The last time I played it was when the extended cut DLC came out. I love me some Mass Effect.
Bonus: The best news this week has to be getting this gig. I've been reading WoW Insider since 2005, so it's cool to finally be making my own posts on the site. Everyone here has been very welcoming.
Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) Wrapping up a week of 14-hour workdays - may see if I can find a flex raid this weekend to dip my toe into the new raid zones, as I'm done with LFR at this point. Also, some more time with Proving Grounds so I can write something about it. Outside of WoW, I did spend a few hours playing King's Bounty: Armored Princess, and while it has its moments, the mechanics are broken enough that I don't feel any desire to return.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) Still doing Timeless Isle! I kinda want that Exalted Shaohao mount and I still need quite a few of the dropped battle pets, so I expect to be there a while. I'm also working on finally getting all the achievements in Saints Row The Third. As far as news goes, I'm interested to see what new lore the Visual Guide reveals. I heard someone say it claims the Titans were on Azeroth before the Old Gods, but I need to get a copy so I can confirm that for myself.
Elizabeth Harper (@Faience) I have been ridiculously sick and plan on spending the weekend catching up on work if I'm capable of focusing on a monitor. Why am I even answering this instead of sleeping? I don't know! Hearthstone seems to stay on my gaming agenda, though, just because it's easy to jump in and play for a few minutes at a time - if I fire up WoW I'm destined to play for longer.
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) Just hanging around, listening to the baby fart continuously. Maybe some Borderlands 2.
My big news is that I got an exceeds expectations on my performance evaluation at my day job and thus got a slightly larger raise. The fact that this is considered big news is confirmation that I am now 30.
Joe Perez (@lodurzj) I'm going to try to get a flex group together to kill Dark Shaman, and probably do the LFR. I am feiding for a chance to get the xmog set, but need to practice the fight some more. Otherwise, I'm going to be spending a lot of time painting up my Trollbloods Hordes force. I'm entering into a drawing / competition for a new airbrush! that's about all the excitement I have going on right now.
Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) Hiding from GTA sessions and frantically finishing my current book so I can re-read The Shining in preparation to read Dr. Sleep.
Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) working on some stuff akin to http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DHMFE2C (no idea when will be done) and hopefully getting in some raiding.
Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) I seem to have gotten back into Minecraft, so if I have any free time this weekend it'll involve continuing to work on my mountain fortress while dodging creepers. Also, the normal Sunday challenge modes where we'll be hitting Shado-Pan Monastery in earnest.
Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) most likely some arenas, and diving into some more LFR to get geared up and write a guide! Probably soak up some sun, too. Yes, I'm still in SoCal. Yes, it's still very warm. Yes, I think it stays that way all year round. This week for me has been all about the Timeless Isle. I've finally had the time to properly get into it, and I'm having a ball. I'm running four characters through the Shaohao quests, and with all of them I've reached the rep grind point, said "sod it" and used the chest guide we linked on WoW Insider last week to farm thousands of coins and a ton of tokens. Love it!
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) I think GTA is likely to be purchased this weekend, so I'll be watching The Spousal Unit play that while pet battling.
Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) Continuing to play through Final Fantasy Tactics, PS1 style. That game has such a convoluted and badly translated plot, it's so endearing. I told my guild leader that it's like the War of the Roses with bonus magical church demons thrown in. My biggest news of the week... uh, the AFL grand finals are tonight! (Well, tomorrow, but they're in Australia, where it's tomorrow right now!) Go Freemantle!
Stacey Landry (@_vidyala) I know I am way behind the times on this, we've owned Assassin's Creed (the original) for years and I'd never tried it. So I started a game yesterday and I'm having a blast. I'm hoping to log many hours playing it this weekend. Plus, the advantage of being a latecomer is that there are more titles in the series I can pick up when I finish the first one.
As for the bonus question, getting an "Are you still interested in the mage columnist position at WoW Insider" e-mail is among my top ten ever. I'm pretty sure I just typed "OMG" 20 times into various IM windows. Needless to say, I am pretty excited to be here."
