Nintendo warming up to iOS for 'little experiences'

Whether you believe that Nintendo should fully commit to iOS as another platform for its wares (as I do), or you think the company is better off publishing its titles exclusively for its own systems, there's little argument that a mobile platform could help the company bring more gamers into its fold. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime seems to agree, based on his recent chat with KING 5 News.

"We recognize that there are a lot of smartphones and tablets out there, and so what we're doing is we're being very smart in how we use these devices as marketing tools for our content," Fils-Aime notes, adding, "We're also doing a lot of experimentation of what I would call the little experiences you can have on your smartphone and tablet that will drive you back to your Nintendo hardware."

Essentially, he's not promising anything in the way of substantial content -- and with the company's CEO firmly against the idea of full iOS games, that's probably a good public stance -- but it's clear that Nintendo isn't fully killing the idea of furthering its IPs on an iPhone, either.
