The Queue: Elders, pet battles, and more

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

It's Monday, so let's jump right in.

alpha5099 asked:

Question in honor of the last days of the Lunar Festival: Given that the holiday is centered around Moonglade and the druids, it makes sense that the majority of the Elders are either Tauren or Night Elves, the pre-Cata druid races. But then the other race of Elder seems to be Earthen. Does this mean that there are Earthen druids?

I might be mistaken, but the holiday is less about Druidism, more about age. The tauren, night elves, and dwarves (in Earthen form) are some of the oldest races on Azeroth, as far as we know. The trolls are ancient as well, but I guess they decided they don't like that holiday and have their own thing going on. Those groups were all around for the War of the Ancients and the Sundering of Azeroth, whereas humans, for example, didn't yet exist in their current form. The vrykul didn't spawn them until later.

joerendous asked:

I had caught the pet battle bug recently (thanks in part to Liopleurodon's blog - get the writing!) and it got me wondering: do any of you name ALL your pets? Only your faithful companions? Only those you battle with? None? And what inspirations do you use to name them?

I don't name any of my pets. I'm the same way in the Pokemon games. I still form attachments to my little virtual critters, but I like seeing as much information about them up-front as possible when switching teams and so forth. In my list of critters, I'd rather see Onyxian Whelpling displayed than Cutiefly, you know?

Rode_and_Babe asked:

So... Broncos or Seahawks?

You asked this before the game actually happened, so it would be cheating for me to answer it now. Therefore, I'm going to go with the Broncos. There's no way the Seahawks can beat the Broncos. Absolutely no way.

Selethor asked:

will the trolls ever wear shoes?

I hope so. Feet are gross. Troll feet are even worse.

@guynamedcourtne asked:

back in 2009 it was said that the wowinsider app was coming soon after the joystiq app launched. Still planned or canceled?

It was ultimately decided by the upper-ups that apps to read a website doesn't make a lot of sense when you can instead make a good/functional mobile version of the website itself to view in your mobile browser. It's debatable how functional ours actually is, and from time to time giving us a new one is discussed, but for now what we have is what it is.

@DaleVsTheWorld asked:

you think they'll continue the grandmaster pet battle quests / dailies for warlords?

We really have no idea what pet battle content will look like in Warlords, but I seriously doubt they would drop support of the feature considering its overwhelming popularity in Mists. From a tweet by Cory Stockton, we know they're populating the Warlords zones with new pets. The end-game or quest-based features of pet battles are an unknown, though. I do think they'll carry over as much of it as possible.
