One Shots: Moons over Bajor

STO

Outer space: It looks cool whether it's in color or black and white. Case in point? Check out both varieties of today's headlining screenshot, submitted by reader Chris.

"Here is the deep space science vessel USS Aurora passing over one of the moons of Bajor in Star Trek Online," Chris writes.

Personally, I think the light and dark contrast looks so much cooler in black and white. That's of small consolation to the crew of the Aurora who went blind sailing directly into the sun, but hopefully their families will find some solace in my admiration.

The rest of this week's One Shots could best be summed up with "Hey, look at the backside of my character!" Let's start by checking out this spiffy sunset in Norrath.

"With the sun setting on so many wonderful MMO's, it just seemed touching to see Kamren, my level 24 Shadowknight (still wearing her handmade Erollisi Day attire), stopping to admire the setting sun over Butcherblock in EverQuest II," wrote reader JohnD.

Have you ever found a spot in an MMO that looked so good that you just had to sit down and drink it in for a while? This right here would be one of those places if I ever encountered one.

"For some reason, it took me a little while to warm to FFXIV's visuals," reader Dynatos said, "but over a short time I've come to appreciate how well some of the environments are created. After a long day of mining in Costa Del Sol, I sat down and enjoyed the beautiful sunset."

How many MMOs have you fighting on, in, and through a speeding train? What about if said train that's on fire, is carrying a city-destroying weapon, and has a functional tank? To my knowledge, there's only one answer to that question, and it's this game.

"Here's a shot of my character, Cyrus doing the Last Train to Cairo from Issue 6 in The Secret World. This is the final mission in a chain of missions. Very fun. The Indiana Jones-inspired scene inspired me to ditch my Senior Agent Illuminati uniform for my Maverick outfit and my trusty cowboy hat," submitted Dengar.

Our screenshot challenge this week is a little different. I want our loyal readers to bug a friend or guildie to send in some of their best screenshots! Spread the word and get them in on the action! Fine, if you want a traditional challenge, what about taking a picture of a cool in-game tavern?

Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to oneshots@massively.com, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
