The Queue: Monday potpourri

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Happy Monday morning, everyone!

@rlloyd3 asked:

Do we know of any potential changes to Azeroth in WoD? (Stormwind's Park District, for example.)

As far as I can recall, the only change we know about is the Dark Portal will turn red and send players to old Draenor instead of Outland. There will be an alternative method for returning to Outland, but we aren't completely sure what it is yet. Possibly a Bronze Dragon or something along those lines.

Fizzl asked:

How exactly do the various Queue Masters pick which questions to answer, and how do they sort the comments (top/newest/oldest)?

I sort by newest, but view all of the comments on the previous Queue before I call it done -- I never stop halfway in the middle and call it "done." That said, I usually write The Queue either late the night prior to its publication or the wee hours in the morning. Anything posted in the comments say, a few hours before the next one goes live, I won't see that.

I pick the questions where I know the answer, or the answer can be found with a reasonable amount of research. If a question is going to require multiple hours of research, I don't pick that for The Queue, because something so complex/involved is likely better as its own, standalone article, rather than one question in a question potpourri. In those cases, I suggest the topic to one of our writers. That's a better service to the community than hiding such a big topic in The Queue.

Sometimes I answer questions that have been answered repeatedly (or already answered in the comments) when I know it will be useful to do so. If one person asked something, others might be wondering the same thing, so I'll publish an answer for visibility. They might not see the answer in the comments, but they might in the article itself. I answer opinion-based questions when I have an opinion to contribute. I answer silly questions when I think they'll provide entertainment.

All of the Queue authors have different specialties and interests, so the sorts of questions I answer might not be the same as the ones Adam, Rossi, Anne, or Sacco might answer.

Why I refer to two of those people by their first name and two by their last name, who knows.

Witty_Repartee asked:

If you could pick one MMO to play during WoW's year-long content hibernation, which is / would it be? Also, will you be unsubbing or not?

My go-to MMO when I decide/have time to play an MMO other than WoW is still The Secret World. I love good urban fantasy settings and The Secret World scratches an itch that traditional fantasy generally can't. Sometimes you need to get out of medieval elf-land, you know? Still, I loves me some medieval elf-land.

I won't be unsubbing. The nature of what I do doesn't make that feasible!

@Roseland1985 asked:

What do you think about a DLC "store" of transmog-only weapons/gear? Free or paid (artist prefered) and monitored for style/PG?

Based on the second part of that question, I assume you mean a shop of user-created gear and weapons? I don't see that happening, honestly. It isn't a very Blizzard thing to do. If they were open to including content created by users, I think we would have seen tools for it already. It's been requested a few times to allow players to create dungeons (or scenarios) for others to play and it hasn't surfaced. Letting users create the art assets is something that would give Blizzard a heart attack.

Blizzard selling the transmog gear, though? They've tried this already with hats.

@Dazandra asked:

will the heirloom and toy box storage come before WoD? Is the Garrosh ahead of the curve etc be gone any time soon?

I would guess both of these things will happen with the release of patch 6.0, the Warlords of Draenor pre-patch. We have no ETA for that.

Edgehead asked:

Do you think they will add Death Knight and Monk decks, and who will the heroes be if they do? Are Arthas and Chen to obvious?

I expect they will in a future expansion. They might tackle only one or the other at first. We know for a fact they have expansions planned and adding those classes would be fantastic. I don't think Arthas and Chen are too obvious at all. They're the most iconic of their particular playstyles and that's what the heroes go for: iconic.

Though I'm not sure if Chen has ever been labeled a monk in the game's lore. He's a martial artist for sure, but monk? Maybe not. Still, they might use him anyway. He fits the combat flavor for sure.
