Mortal Kombat X marks the spot as April 2015 worldwide

Mortal Kombat X arrives on April 14, 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC, Warner Bros. announced this morning. The publisher confirmed the launch date for NetherRealm Studios' fighter applies worldwide.

Also, WB revealed four-armed charmer Goro is coming back to the series, making his first appearance as a playable character since 2006 entry Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. If you've absolutely Goro have him, he's a "retail channel-wide" pre-order exclusive in North America, and across the pond he's limited to "an exclusive UK retailer"

While it's some ways off yet, Mortal Kombat X made enough of an impact with Joystiq's Earnest Cavalli for him to place it our E3 Selections list. As he put it:

"They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but apparently NetherRealm Studios never got that memo. Building on the dual successes of Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice: Gods Among Us, the developer has infused Mortal Kombat X with a handful of clever tweaks that should make combat more compelling, diverse and interesting, while enhancing the blood-spattered hallmarks of the franchise. There's no telling how the hardcore fighting game community will react to these additions, but what I played of the game left me very anxious for the official debut of Mortal Kombat X."
