Guide to new mounts in Warlords of Draenor

As expected with the exclusion of flying in Draenor, the vast majority of new mounts being added in Warlords of Draenor are ground-only mounts. There are over 40 new mounts being added which should help you with tackling the new 250-mount achievement, Mountacular.

Rare Spawns

There are several rare spawns in Draenor which have a 100% chance to drop a mount. I know what you're thinking, but don't worry! Farming these mounts is much more forgiving than trying to farm something like Time-Lost Proto-Drake or Aeonaxx.

Everyone who participates in the kill receives a mount, even if they aren't partied or on the same faction. I have to say I'm looking forward to camping for some of these with other players. It's always nice to have company, especially when we don't have to fight over the tag.

The one exception is the Garn Nightowl which drops from Nok-Karosh in Frostfire Ridge. That mount must be rolled for.

Garrison Mounts

The Stables building comes with several mount perks like being able to interact with objects/nodes while mounted, no dazing while mounted, and a 20% mount speed increase. You'll also be able to embark on a series of quests to claim as many as 8 new mounts. You can keep these mounts even if you decide to later bulldoze your Stables for a different building.

Stables Training Missions

These quests send you out to first capture the beast and then begin training it by killing quest mobs while mounted on it. Each beast has 7-12 quests to complete to unlock the mount. These quests are gated on a daily basis, but you can complete quests from every unlocked beast each day.

Other Stables Mounts

These are additional mounts awarded for completing certain training quests with either Black Claw of Sethe or Garn-Tooth Necklace in your inventory (these items are found on the ground in the Stable).

Garrison Invasion Mounts

Getting a gold medal from a garrison invasion quest rewards you with Invader's Forgotten Treasure once per week. This bag has a chance to contain one of the following mounts:

Trading Post Mounts

These mounts can only be purchased once exalted with the Sha'tari Defense (Alliance) or Laughing Skull Orcs (Horde) faction. In order to have access to these reputation rewards, you'll need a Trading Post in your garrison. The following mounts require exalted reputation to purchase:

Fishing Shack Mount

The Fishing Shack doesn't take up a regular building plot and will always be available in your garrison. However, there are several requirements in order to unlock this mount. You have to complete the Draenor Angler achievement to unlock the level 3 Fishing Shack blueprint which allows you to recruit the one and only Nat Pagle as a follower. Nat Pagle then offers a series of repeatable quests which reward Nat's Lucky Coin.

Reputation Mounts

There are only a handful of reputation mounts available. Note that the Trading Post mounts mentioned in the garrison section also fall into this category since they also require exalted with their respective reputations.

Gold Sink Mounts

There are two very large gold sinks available in Warlords, but one of them only applies to the Alliance -- the losing bike from Azeroth Choppers. The Horde bike, Warlord's Deathwheel, will be given out for free to Horde players if they logged into WoW before September 30th, 2014.

Boss Drop Mounts

Very few boss drops this time around, only two in 6.0.

PvP Mounts

Both of these mounts are awarded for winning 100 3v3 arena matches or 40 rated battlegrounds in Warlords season 1 PvP.

Profession Mounts

Both of these profession mounts require 700 skill in the appropriate profession to learn, and they also require the profession to mount them. Your alts without the professions won't be able to ride them. If you abandon the profession, the mount will remain in your journal and count towards any mount collection achievements.

Achievement Mounts

There are plenty of fun mounts to be had here. Without a doubt, my favorite has to be the yeti mount from challenge modes. I mean, who doesn't want to ride a big yeti into battle? Also added are two frequently-requested green flying mounts which have been in the game files for years but never made into actual mounts until now.

Unconfirmed Mounts

The Grinning Reaver has been available to purchase in the in-game cash shop for the entirety of beta. It's a good bet that we'll see this mount added to the store sometime in the near future. It's based on the new ravager models from Draenor.

The Cindermane Charger is rumored to be a future Recruit-A-Friend mount reward, but its source is not yet confirmed.

There are many more mounts already in the Warlords game files but not yet obtainable. Some examples include a whole slew of rylaks (similar to the Iron Skyreaver). You can see those unused mount looks on Warcraft Mounts. Perhaps we'll see some of them in future content patches. We'll be sure to update this guide if any more mounts are added before launch.
