Standalone white PS4 available in UK later this week
Sony confirmed today that UK buyers can purchase a white PS4 standalone starting this Friday, October 17. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe told VideoGamer this morning that an Amazon UK listing for the game-less, snowy white system was accurate.
The retailer currently has the white PS4 listed at the nice, round figure of £351.86. Earlier this year, Sony said the "Glacier White" PS4 would be available separately in Europe at a recommended retail price of 399 euros. [Update: Sony confirmed to Eurogamer the recommended retail price is £349]
We've reached out to SCEE to confirm if the UK release date applies to the rest of Europe, where the white PS4 remains due later this year. Previously, European buyers could only get hold of the white PS4 as part of Destiny and Driveclub bundles.
As for North America, while Sony previously said the white PS4 would be coming to Europe separately, it didn't say the same for other regions - we've reached out to Sony Computer Entertainment America for any further word on that. As things stand, the only white PS4 available on retail shelves stateside is the one that's part of the $450 Destiny bundle.
