The Queue: Ode to the Frostwall Woodcutter

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

Oh Frostwall Woodcutter, I know not who put you in this game, nor do I understand why you and your brothers are content to do endless rounds of squats rather than toting your lumber to the appropriate building. But I am certain, dear Frostwall Woodcutter, that perhaps you would be more comfortable with a shirt. I mean come on. There's snow on the ground here.

Although I do kind of like that whole burly lumberjack thing you've got going on. Zug zug.

DavidBaldock asked:

Not that I'm concerned about getting to 100, but in a non rushed approach, if I start on Monday and put in say 3 hours a night every night, when should I expect to hit max level? Friday? The following Monday? Just curious.

If it's three solid hours of questing and dungeons, I'd say maybe a week to ten days or so, two weeks at most -- and that's mostly if you spend a lot of time fiddling around. Leveling really doesn't feel like an arduous chore this time around. It's fun, and seems to be pretty well-paced. Make sure you park it in your garrison or an inn to get rested XP when you aren't playing, and the process should be pretty smooth and painless. No rushing necessary.

AlunWilliams asked:

Q4tq- You've probably answered this already but as an Orc was I born on Draenor?

If your orc is older than 31, 32, then yes, you were born on Draenor. If your orc is considerably younger than that, then you were born on Azeroth.

gazaa07 asked:

Q4tQ: While logging in, you may be in the Queue in the thousands. what do you do while you wait to get in?

I get work done. And cleaning. The house is pretty spotless at the moment.

Klebaten asked:

Q4tQ: Every expansion has a zone or two that are pretty much essential for the storyline/narritive of that expansion on launch. In WoD, what are the zone(s) that one interested in the story will want to clear out of all quests?

You're going to want to clear out whichever starting zone your faction is shuffled off to -- both Frostfire and Shadowmoon are heavy on story. Talador pushes that story forward significantly, and it finishes off in Nagrand. Gorgrond and Spires of Arak are both useful for interesting Draenor tidbits, but not really necessary to clear out completely for the full picture. I'd recommend them anyway, because the Botani are creepy and interesting, and the Arakkoa are really, really fleshed out in Spires -- we learn a lot about them.

But I'm a completionist that likes to clear everything out, honestly.

orrine asked:

Q4tQ: Do you have a feeling that WoD has less quests then previous expansions? Ot expirience is so streamlined that you don't feel it that much?

I think there may be less in terms of traditional quests, the kind where you talk to a questgiver, accept the quest, and turn it in when you're done. But there are many, many, many hidden things to do out there that are perfectly optional -- hidden objectives, treasures to hunt down, vignettes that reward bonus XP and gold. You just have to get off the beaten path and find them. Personally, I think it's more fun this way -- it's not that streamlined quests-on-rails feeling from Cataclysm. It's the exact opposite -- you're free to explore and even encouraged to do so as much as possible. So while it may feel like there's less quests, there's more content there to play. It's just not being handed out in the traditional manner that we're used to.

demon.within.x asked:

Q4tQ: Are the Frostwolf orcs the only orcs that are against The Iron Horde? surly there must be other groups of orcs that don't want war.

There are a few other outliers. There's a group in Shadowmoon Valley who aren't exactly pleased with the direction things are going, and the Laughing Skull don't seem to have a lot of interest in playing at the Iron Horde's war games, either. There may be more tucked away than that, but the majority of the clans chose to follow Grommash.

Armenius asked:

So when I talked to Khadgar's innkeeper, she said "Rest your weary bones for a spell?" to my undead. Does she say this to everyone, rotting or not, or do I need to occupy Khadgar's Tower?

I took my troll out to Khadgar's tower just to talk to the innkeeper in question. She also asked if I'd like to rest my weary bones, so it seems it's just a turn of phrase she likes to use, whether you're mostly-dead or not.
