WRUP: WoW vs. Dragon Age edition

What are RPG fans to do with a new WoW expansion and a new Dragon Age game coming out at almost the same time? After hitting level 100 -- and some of the new-game shine wearing off of Warlords of Draenor -- a lot of us jumped ship for BioWare's latest... but we'll no doubt be back when DA:I similarly loses its new-ness.

Still, plenty of us are playing WoW this weekend -- and to find out what we're up to (in WoW or out), read on. This week we've also been thinking about our biggest WoW annoyances (which may or may not have driven us to other games). Agree? Disagree? Let us know what you think in the comments -- and tell us what you're playing this weekend, too.

Adam Holisky (@AdamHolisky) I'm going to try to level more of my pets to 25, at 61/75 right now, and I'd like to get that achievement. My biggest complaint is about the professions still... there just doesn't seem to be any direction, and I feel they're mildly useless.

Adam Koebel (@BendakWoW) Some Dragon Age would be nice. My play time has been seriously lacking because of Warlords. My biggest complaint about this expansion is related to hunters. I think Lone Wolf is a little too good compared to the other level 100 talents (for DPS). I know a lot of hunters enjoy this talent. I'm happy for them and I don't want it taken away or even nerfed. I'd just like to see using a pet as an equally strong choice in such situations. I was one of those players who rolled a hunter because of the dwarf with his big bear pet in the original WoW cinematic. Playing without my pet simply feels wrong after 10 years. I first brought up concerns about this very subject over a year ago and I don't want to say I called it, but I kind of did.

Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart) I finally finished Dragon Age: Inquisition, so I'll likely be dedicating some time to running Highmaul LFR this weekend. That and/or some more Binding of Isaac Rebirth. With Warlords and Dragon Age releasing at roughly the same time, Binding of Isaac totally dropped off of my priority list. As for my biggest complaint, I think we went over it fairly well on this week's podcast. Level 100 feels like a whole lot of waiting around with not a lot of meaningful content. Considering how incredible the leveling experience was this time around, it comes to a screeching halt at level 100. It almost feels like they either forgot to develop max level content or are relying heavily on their ability to release patch 6.1 as fast as possible.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm going to be writing this weekend, and in between that a little bit of WoW and a little bit of DA:I probably. I think the biggest com ... you know, I don't really want to call it a complaint, more of a critical observation. I miss the story. There's hardly any to be found at level 100, and the little bit that is there is too little too far between. I really loved all the story and plot we got hit with while we were leveling, I just ... want to see more of it!

Dan O'Halloran (@danoh) I just started heroics with my DPS monk, so I'm embarrassing myself by dying in boss fights in all new ways. I can't more highly recommend the GTFO mod that blares a screeching alarm every time you're standing in the fire which, for me, is a lot. I've decided to dump mining in exchange for alchemy on my druid to do something with all these herbs that my two garrisons are pumping out every day. So I'll be spending some of my weekend leveling that up and deciding if I want to dump his engineering building (he's not an engineer) for an alchemy building. Also will be continue to level my druid in tree spec via random dungeons. It's amazing how quickly you can level and get gear upgrades this way, but you lose out on new followers by not questing.

Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) More WoW this weekend, either playing it or watching the progression race. I've been enjoying 5-mans a lot, as is usual for me with the start of an expansion. This is that magical time when random people notice your healing, give lots of compliments on your abilities, and generally leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy about your fellow gamer. (This will later turn into contempt as people pull while I'm drinking, refer to me as "priest," and generally turn into zombies who don't notice anything about me or anyone else they're running with.) My biggest complaint is the quantity of 665 BoEs gear options. A few are okay but the best way to gear up for raids overall shouldn't be gold and the auction house. I don't want to join the goons who list four pages of a single item just so I can have the gold to take the most efficient gearing path.

Elizabeth Harper (@faience) Dragon Age: Inquisition has taken over my life (at least for now) -- but it's good timing, because after hitting level 100 I've become progressively more bored with WoW. I'd really loved going through each zone in its entirety, and have cleared them for the great questing and story elements... but once I finished that, nothing seems that interesting. I've done some dungeons and I want to hit Molten Core before it goes away, but everything else seems like a long, boring grind. Maybe I'll level up my horde character through Draenor to see that side of the story, or go back to leveling up battle pets... but for now, my second playthrough of Dragon Age feels a lot more interesting than catching hundreds of fish for the chance of a lunker or grinding out the thousands of leather needed to craft my next leatherworking piece.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'm finally getting to spend some time with Warlords of Draenor and also finishing up DA:I. For stress relief, I always have Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim.

Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) I'm basically praying that my sinuses stop trying to murder me this weekend, with a side of Dragon Age. I'm hoping to get back into WoW over the weekend. Been unable to play for very long but I'm taking a new med.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) This weekend I have a lot of household projects to catch up on and in between all of that I will be playing WoW. I'm really enjoying WoD so far but I think my biggest complaint would be the profession stuff, particularly the fishing. While I do enjoy the actual act of fishing (believe it or not), holy need for bag space, Batman. Also in my bank. With three different sizes of fish, plus the fish flesh, for each fish in the game, my fishing section in the crafting tab has ballooned beyond what I ever thought it would be. Oh well.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play
