The Queue: RIP Flappy Bird

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

You were too good for this world. Rest now, old soldier.

BlazeNor asked:

What ever happen to the World of Warcraft Official Magazine? And did they ever replace it with something else?

The magazine was canceled after five issues, leaving some people with a subscription a magazine that didn't exist. They offered refunds or vanity pet vouchers for those affected. I can't say for sure why it was canceled, but I do know that it was constantly late, the information was often old news before the magazine even hit the newsstands, and it arrived to many subscribers' homes in terrible condition. I think Blizzard and/or Future (the publisher) probably noticed these things and opted not to continue the print media war of attrition. It was a good-looking magazine, though.

JordanPhilips asked:

Is Outland in the Twisting Nether, or in the Great Dark Beyond?

Both! The Great Dark Beyond is just the WoW universe term for "outer space". The Twisting Nether is sort of a parallel energy dimension thing that exists alongside the material plane. Draenor was in the Great Dark Beyond; the magical shattering of Draenor that turned it into Outland also ripped a hole in the fabric of space and caused the Twisting Nether to leak through into normal space.

Kelthador asked:

There's something that's been bothering me ever since I started playing an alliance character.

The Draenei have a (deserved) hatred of the Legion, their fallen brethren, and anything related to the demonic. And yet they seem perfectly content to work alongside warlocks, and even let them into their cities and shrines.

I understand that limiting interaction between Draenei players and other players who play warlocks would be stupid, but I haven't seen the matter mentioned even in passing by NPCs or in quests.

What's the deal?

It's just one of those "gameplay trumps lore" situations. The draenei would of course have very strong feelings about those who practiced the demonic arts and certainly wouldn't want to be associated with them, but they have to coexist with the rest of the Alliance somehow for gameplay reasons.

TysonHinton asked:

Hit and expertise is being removed next expansion. What happens to gear with hit/expertise on it? Debating on making a set of gear with as little as possible of those two stats to make the leveling much quicker next xpac.

Hit and expertise on gear will be replaced with either crit or haste, where appropriate.

Revets asked:

Is it possible to still be eligible for betas if you don't have an active sub? I haven't been playing that much because of school and was thinking to let my sub lapse to save myself some money until some new content came out but I really want to be involved in the WoD beta and am worried that not having a sub will make me ineligible or less likely to be picked.

Yep, you're still eligible for betas even without an active subscription. After all, it's a good way to lure someone back into playing, isn't it?

Rahkarne asked:

Random question for fellow readers: Is anyone else missing an "edit" button on their posts? It's a small thing but I just noticed it yesterday. As someone with a brain that works faster than his fingers I rather appreciated it ;)

We noticed! I'm not sure why it's gone, but we're looking into it.
