The Queue: Attack of the killer migraine

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

It's Monday morning and my head is exploding. Let's do this thing.

PatrickHamiltonPrentiss asked:

Has Blizzard announced if there will be an open beta for WoD? If not, do you think that there will be one?

It's extremely unlikely that Warlords of Draenor will have an open beta. I believe the last time the World of Warcraft franchise had an open beta was before the release of the original game in 2004. WoW expansions have always been invite-only closed betas and we've seen indications that Warlords will have a much smaller beta pool than Mists by far.

Twowolves asked:

Is it Blind time again yet?

I've actually placed a total moratorium on featuring Blind. People love it, we still get tips about this "hot new never-before-seen machimima" on a regular basis, but we've probably featured it over a dozen times. Enough is enough. If I could sticky Blind at the top of our page for eternity, I would do it, just to stop seeing the emails about it.

But that probably wouldn't stop them, anyway.

Rahkarne asked:

Will the valor squish affect my ability to fly in leveling zones in The Dark Below? Pardon the snark: Migraine.

I have a migraine while I'm writing today's Queue. Sup, migraine buddy? Next question.

@rapturesrevenge asked:

How to deal with young teenagers in guild raids? Namely the annoying, not-funny kind.

If your guild accepts those teenagers, then you have to accept those teenagers. That's the environment your guild has chosen. You can try mentioning your discomfort to your guild officers, but you might be in a situation where your guild just isn't a fit for you.

@mathiaslindberg asked:

When do you expect Warlords of Draenor? May? July? August/September?

After BlizzCon, I was guessing sometime this summer. Considering there's no sign of the beta yet, I'm pushing my guess back to autumn. September seems about right.

@PhantomPho asked:

do you think this unknown limbo time between expacs will kill off some of the population permenantly?

It's impossible to say for sure without a glimpse at Blizzard's metrics, but I'm sure the period between content patches and expansions is when the most subscriber churn happens. For players who aren't hardcore WoW lifers, the periods when there's nothing immediately new on the horizon is when they'd bail. Some of them come back, no doubt. Others, probably not.
