The Queue: No spoilers here, just an elekk

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

In an effort to avoid spoilers, I went to capture a generic and adorable image of a wee little baby elekk for you guys. This is when I discovered that approaching any of the baby elekks in the elekk pens immediately drew the attention of mama elekk, who would not leave my side until I walked out of the pen and away from her children.

It's little touches that I love about this game.

JacobS.Kuntzman asked:

So when and why did maintenance change to Thursdays? I know we still get rolling restarts on Tuesdays, but what's the deal? And by extension, would we be expecting the Warlords pre-patch to drop on a Tuesday or a Thursday?

Tuesdays are still maintenance days for US servers, and always have been. Thursdays, on the other hand, seem to be the assigned days to do Realm Connections. While we don't know for certain one way or another, I think it's safe to assume at this point that yes, the 6.0 patch will still be arriving on a Tuesday, just like any other patch.

Domehammer asked:

What is this talk about books required for professions? First time I have heard of it and whats wrong with having trainers for professions?

There are items you get to unlock raising your profession level. So far, they seem to be random drops. I got mine fairly quickly while out and about doing quests -- I don't think they're going to be particularly difficult to find. While I'm unsure as to why we don't just have trainers, I'm honestly okay with having a drop, instead of paying a trainer to learn something, but it does seem sort of strange that there aren't trainers to teach us these things.

SparkysShocker asked:

Q4tQ: Ive finished up all available horde side quests in beta, what now? I guess I could try out some of the Dungeons or maybe roll and Alliance toon and experience that side of the beginning. I have been reporting bugs along the way so I am not just playing to play.

Try out the dungeons -- they're pretty neat! Also, I recommend playing through the starting zones for both factions. There are plenty of bugs to ferret out on both sides, and you can just create a level 90 character, so why not? Even if you don't play Alliance on live servers, it's still interesting material to play through.

Dakos asked:

Considering that Thrall is leading the Horde's charge into Draenor, does Vol'jin, as Warchief, have any role in WoD? Or is he the guy sitting at home to make sure the throne doesn't float away without a butt holding it down?

Well, considering what we're doing is pretty much considered a suicide mission, it's probably a good thing the newly-appointed Warchief of the Horde isn't hopping through that portal.

Warchief Vol'jin is in a position that I suspect very few people would actually envy. He's just spent the last expansion watching a warmongering tyrant try to turn the Horde into a war machine, nearly been assassinated, recovered from nearly being assassinated, put together a group of rebel forces to take on said warmongering tyrant, and then been handed the reins of the entire Horde for his very own in a split-second decision just after Garrosh's defeat.

He's got no idea what he's doing. He has no idea what the Horde is going to do. These are things he's going to have to figure out, all while restructuring and recovering from all the damage Garrosh did both to the city and to diplomatic ties with the other Horde races. So far, we haven't seen him on Draenor, and it's probably a very good thing if he doesn't show up -- he's got more than enough on his plate back in Orgrimmar.

JonhDoe18 asked:

QftQ: Has there been any oficial word on the first female druid? or is it up in the smoke for some fanfic?

None at all! Likewise, there has been no official word or story about the first male night elf priest, either.

TheGreatJacob asked:

Q4tQ: I understand Spirits o'Harmony are becoming unbound with Warlords, but are they becoming BoA, or completely tradable?

Completely tradeable, from what has been datamined so far. Mail them to an alt! Trade them with a friend! Sell them on the auction house! Make thoroughly obnoxious images in your guild bank! The choice is all up to you.

Kablammo asked:

After the launch of pet battles and the like, what sub game would you like to see added to wow?

You know, I can't really think of one that "fits" off the top of my head, not with the rest of the game. But I do still want to see Pet Battles make their way into a mobile game. I'd love to play them on my phone!
