The Queue: Well I look a little different

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

I logged onto the beta to find new models in place for both my shaman and my priest. I really like how the model revamps are coming along -- they look absolutely amazing, and my shaman is everything I could've hoped for. But let's get to the Warcraft questions, shall we?

jpec07 asked:

Do you think we should get recustomizations with the new models? Do you think we will?

Do I think we should get them? Yes. To keep it reasonable, limit it to one per WoW license, like the level 90 boosts that are coming with the expansion. Don't get me wrong, the new models look great, but I think it would go a long way if we were allowed to freely tweak our chosen main and make a few changes if we see fit to do so. I don't think it needs to be in place for every character on our account, but you'd think that one wouldn't be too far of a stretch. Do I think we'll actually get one? I honestly couldn't tell you -- we've been told no, that will not be a thing, but we're still in beta and Blizzard has been known to occasionally change their minds about things. We'll have to wait and see.

gazaa07 asked:

Q4tQ: Considering the toybox in WoD will accommodate shape shifting tokens and that we have account wide achievements, do you think we could get shapeshift tokens based on raid achievements (both old and new)? E.g: the various segments of Chromatic Champion would let you assume the humanoid form of the Aspect you have completed and doing it all would get you Deathwing's humanoid form? or killing LK on 25man HC gets you LK shapeshift, killing Garrosh on HC got you Garrosh etc etc?

While I like the idea of more shape-shifting and costume tokens, I highly doubt we'd see any that would let us assume the form of a major, iconic lore character like an endgame boss. There's a reason rogues can't pickpocket boss mobs with the Glyph of Disguise, after all. But don't get me wrong -- I really am hoping that with the Toy Box, we'll see more disguise items. Heck I'd love to see an updated version of Time-Lost Figurine that lets us use the new arakkoa models. That would be awesome.

Ravyncat1 asked:

So what do Y'all think about the new female draenei and undead models? I admit I spent a lot more time looking at the draenei because they are the race I mostly play. To me, they are suffering from "looks good, but not at all like my character." Any of Y'all in the beta...do they look better live?

They are amazing in beta. I cannot stress this enough -- while model viewers are handy for getting a general idea of what things will look like, they absolutely cannot compare to seeing the models moving around in game, in the environment they were designed for, with the lighting that suits them best. The movement is everything.

On the two new races that were just added with this build -- female Forsaken are still a little disconcerting to me, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the faces are still undergoing refining, and also that my priest is a character I have had since the first year of vanilla. I picked her face for a reason, and I have loved her little face and watched her little face for many, many years. I've never changed it. Seeing it suddenly shifted into something incredibly foreign really weirded me out.

My draenei on the other hand is a relatively new character that was made earlier this year, so I haven't really gotten time to get accustomed to her face. In her case, I immediately fell in love with the changes.

gan7114 asked:

QFTQ: From playing beta, what is that small island off the coast of Shadowmoon Valley, directly to the south? Is it an Alliance port of some kind? Does it hold any significance?

That is not an Alliance island -- well, not really anyway. It's an island populated with a lot of level 100 mobs, a bunch of Iron Horde messing around with subjugating rylak, and Rexxar. If you talk to Rexxar he seems friendly enough, but there are no quests or anything to do on the island -- other than dying to a level 100 mob promptly eating your face off. Can't wait to see what's there at max level, though!

jacobbelmore asked:

Q4TQ: What mechanic exists in game that you think is terribly underused? I would have to cast my vote for the daily quest on the Isle of Thunder that lets you choose whether you want to do a PvP quest or a PvE quest. I think using the mechanic to allow players to select thier dailies would be awesome -- Id love to be able to choose which set of celestial dailies I get to do, or to pick which of the Tillers I am finding a gift for.

The Barber Shop. No, I'm serious -- the feature was introduced how long ago, and we've never seen any additions to available hair colors or styles? Azeroth's barbers are either very set in their ways, or completely incompetent. I'd like to see, particularly with the new models we're getting, some new hairstyles or colors thrown in the mix.

Jalamenos asked:

Q4tQ: So what's currently up with the Dark Iron dwarves? Did they officially join the alliance or is it just the few loyal to Moira? Or are they still present in Ironforge because of an evil plot to take it over?

They are a part of the Council of Three Hammers -- or rather, the Dark Iron that have followed Moira are. But just because Moira is okay with joining the Council, doesn't mean that all of the Dark Iron are going to immediately fall in line behind her. That clan has been at odds with the other two for a very long time, and just because Moira happened to marry the Emperor, it doesn't mean they're all going to follow where she leads. She was originally a Bronzebeard, after all.
