The Queue: With my big black boots and an old suitcase

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Matthew Rossi will be your host today.

It was this or Seven Mary Three. Questions. Let us answer them.

MichaelVakian asks:
Q4tQ: What are your thoughts on Blizzard releasing the title of it's next Wow xpac at Blizzcon this year?

I think this is almost certainly going to be the case. I'd be amazed if they didn't have an expansion to preview in some fashion. Not to sound cynical, but it's hard to imagine them doing a BlizzCon without a big tentpole announcement like a new World of Warcraft expansion. And frankly, after this content drought and the lost subs that followed along with it. they need to keep the future content patches coming to retain subscriber interest.

I warned you.

Sleuth asks:
Q4Q: Do you think we will receive another good-news announcement prior to next week's release date announcement? If so, what do you think it might be?

Depends on what's a 'good news' announcement to you. For me, the release of Gul'dan and the Stranger and the upcoming lore animated film Lords of War was a good news announcement. I don't think we're going to see anything as big as the updated Molten Core LFR before the cinematic and release date announcement.

Xpyre27 asks:
2 Q's for the Q,

Do you think blizzard should or will add a function to search uncut gems in the AH?

Do you think we will get a 6.0 release date or just the expansion next Thursday?

Here's your two answers.

No.

Just a release date.

DanielHudson asks:
Question for the Queue.

It was stayed that the PvP portion of the anniversary would be temporary. What is known about the LFR in terms of its availability after the anniversary?

Nothing. Rygarius assures us that more information is incoming. I personally expect it to be as permanent as the Onyxia boost to 80 was. There's no reason to assume it to be temporary. There's a specific reason the Tarren Mill vs. Southshore BG is temporary and that reason doesn't apply to Molten Core LFR. (Namely, the TM vs. SS BG is a deathmatch. Deathmatch BG's are seen as fun in short doses.)

Alkizar asks:
Q for the Q: So with the release date being announced next week, is it safe to assume that 6.0 will drop very soon? I want my 9/9 Gold CM and want to know if I should start worrying about not getting it done.

With the most radical estimates being late September (next month) and the most conservative being sometime in October (two months from now) I'd say go get that done if it's important to you.

ScottLeyes asks:
I am confused... there is a WoW Insider twitter account (@wowinsider), but there also seems to be another (@wow_insider) - the second one (with the underscore) has a "wow.com" icon, which makes it very old.

Are you being spoofed?

Yes. Only @wowinsider is a legitimate WoW Insider twitter account. Accept no substitutes.

DClatt asks:
Q4tQ: how will Cata models compare to the new character models?

Not quite as good, but certainly not bad. You'll be fine, goblins and worgen. Well, except for worgen ladies. I can't help y'all. I'm really sorry.

GavinLafferty asks:
Q4tq: How do you suspect Blizzard will treat Draenor...and by extension the entire alternative timeline once the expansion ends?

1.) The gateway to Draenor will be closed. Emotional farewells with the friends we've made. Maybe some Azeroth heroes stay behind. Not saying the gate will be closed in game, just storywise Draenor will never play another part.

2.) Draenor is somehow added to our mainstream timeline, doing away with the alternate malarky. Keeps it around for future story points, but jettisions alternate legion, alternate azeroth.

3.)the gate to the past remains open forever. alternate azeroth, alternate legion remain possible destinations.

Thoughts? Options I've missed?

We close the alternate Dark Portal when we come through by freeing Captain Spoiler and his amazing Spoilerteers, and I suspect our final act in fighting the Warlords will be to defeat the Iron Horde utterly. Essentially, even if we don't destroy the Dark Portal in the Tanaan Jungle, it's inert without Captain Spoiler to power it (and man I hope we don't leave that guy alive, that's a huge mistake, that's a mistake wearing a top hat and chaps without pants is what that is) so I suspect it'll be 1. I doubt highly it will be 2. That's a huge mess. Much worse than anything they're doing in Warlords. It's seventy two orders of magnitude more confusing. You don't want that.

As to whether we're going to see an Alternate Azeroth, I have no idea. I think it would be cool, but the community response to alternate Draenor has been so willfully obtuse and "OMG I hate time travel stories" bad that I think Blizzard might decide we're not ready for anything like that. It's a shame, but it seems WoW players just aren't interested in alternate timelines. Not a lot of Sliders fans here, is what I'm saying. Pavane not on a lot of reading lists. And it genuinely saddens and upsets me, because I freaking love alternate history stories and Warlords is exactly that.

That's the Queue from me this week. Have a safe and happy weekend.
