The Queue: Draenic marshmallows

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

Look, I'm not going to argue the mechanical wonders of goblin engineering. I mean I'm a goblin engineer and everything. But I'm wondering where the heck this particular goblin managed to find marshmallows on Draenor -- I'm not objecting, mind you. I'd just like some for myself, thanks.

BlazeNor asked:

Do anyone know if the rarity of followers effect the benefits to the profession shops they are assign to?

Nope! All rarity affects is how many traits your follower has, which in turn plays into how good they are at completing missions. An uncommon follower with the ability to work at the Engineering shop will offer exactly the same things as an epic follower that has the same ability.

Marc M asked:

Q4q...I thought that quest items were no longer going to show up in your bags in this expansion? Part of the more bag Space initiative?

It depends on the item. If it's something you have to use during the course of the quest, it'll be in your bags. If it's something you an interact with, like a book or letter you can read, it'll also show up in your bags. If it's just something you're picking up and collecting, it won't show in your bags.

Twowolves asked:

Does it seem there are less quest gear rewards this time around?

There are just as many, but the reward you're offered is usually one specifically for you. On the one hand, this is nice because you can use just about every quest reward you get while you're leveling, with very few exceptions, but it also eliminates the option to choose the item you can't use. On the surface, this seems like a nice idea, but I kind of find myself missing the options. Sometimes I didn't need another set of bracers, but that caster dagger made for a cool piece of transmog. Sometimes I kept a cloth robe just because it was really pretty. Or sometimes I didn't care about any of the quest rewards, and just picked the one that would vendor for the most gold. I don't have that option any more, and I kind of miss it.

RufusHonkerIV asked:

Do I have to get battle pets to level 25 before I can tinker with the menagerie?

Yes -- to unlock the menagerie, you have to defeat three level 25 pests hanging around your garrison. Doing so will take a team of level 25 pets to complete.

plusParty asked:

So what pieces for gear can still be enchanted? Leg armor?

Enchants are now reserved for weapons, rings, necks and cloaks. There aren't any leg armor options this time around.

HemttTanker asked:

Is there any point to being a miner in WoD?. The biggest use of ores in MoP was prospecting for gems, which is not possible with Draenor ore. In addition, item crafting is limited by the cooldown items, not ore. The crafters are more than self sufficient just with their garrison mine. The vendor price for stacks of ore is very low too. Has anyone found a use for this stuff?

Part of me actually wants to pick up mining, because I'm an engineer/jewelcrafter, currently, and work orders for both of those buildings take ore. That's where a lot of the ore is going -- work orders for items to create stuff for professions. Oddly enough, True Iron Ore shows up with the Prospectable flag on the tooltip, but when you try to prospect it, it says there are no gems in it. It makes jewelcrafting feel slightly weird, to say the least. But you could try putting your ore on the AH to see if anyone needs it for work orders.

solars asked:

Q4TQ is there no black friday sale this year? normally the battle chest is 5 bucks i realize they added mop to it making it a great deal but a few of my co workers were planing on starting wow with the 5 dollar box ive been bragging about during black friday

There's been no word of any sales just yet as far as Blizzard is concerned -- but that's pretty standard for everywhere else, too. Black Friday sales aren't usually announced until later in the week, closer to Thanksgiving. There are some web sites out there with leaks of Black Friday deals, but I wouldn't really trust those, either -- I'd say just sit tight for a few days until the ads start coming out and check those.
