Foursquare travels to iPad for the first time

Foursquare for iPad

It's been an interesting year for Foursquare. First, the company that popularized mobile check-ins broke off its popular location sharing feature into a separate app, leaving more than a few miffed users to wonder what the point of it all was, and now the main Foursquare experience is headed to iPad for the first time.

In a blog post today, Foursquare notes that it has received feedback from users who wanted to be able to do their Foursquare browsing while on their iPad, so they decided to make it happen. The iPad version, like its smaller brother, is all about travel and discovering new places wherever you happen to be.

Along with its move to iPad a new feature has been added which shows you the most popular places in your area. The new list will crunch all of Foursquare's reviews and impressions and suggest places that it thinks you'll like. Personally, I'll be using it to find the closest bar while at all of my exceedingly long holiday visits.
