The Queue: Followers, transmog, and gross items

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

I managed to lose a day this week and thought today was Tuesday rather than Wednesday. For that reason, The Queue is a little late today. I hope you'll all forgive me.

Snichy asked:

Does getting a follower to "epic" quality have any benefits over them being the same iLevel but blue?

Epic followers get two ability counters. Anything below epic only has one. It's advantageous to level everyone to epic quality if possible. There are missions that require, for example, five counters -- if you have no epic followers, you'll never get those missions to 100% chance to succeed. iLevel is also important for unlocking more difficult missions, so don't neglect either aspect.

So I did "The Pit" for the apexis daily today. My group helped kill the rare Maniacal Madgard, and... I honestly have to say that I was (and still am) pretty grossed out by what dropped.

Remind me to never, ever kill that mob.

Sophdog asked:

Do the Highmaul raid follower missions have a chance to drop a weapon from the reward crate? The text says "a 655 item" (and now 670 too - yay), but I haven't heard of anyone getting a weapon. Is it possible?

As far as I know, it is not possible to get weapons from those particular missions. You have a chance to get an ilevel 645 weapon from getting gold on a garrison invasion, but I don't believe the garrison provides any weapons better than that. Unless you're a blacksmith with a forge, of course.

Edit: I forgot to mention the garrison follower missions that provide Grandiose items, one of which might be a 645 weapon. You cannot get Highmaul weapons from the Highmaul missions, however.

Fathdris asked:

Last night, just before maintenance, when i was ingame and trying to hand in a Garrison quest, there was 20 players in the Garrison, and large wooden logs preventing me from entering the town hall... What happened? Does anyone know?

That happens when the garrison instance server goes down. You aren't placed in your own customized garrison, you end up in weird placeholder limbo. I've noticed the garrison server tends to go down before the game server prior to maintenance and patches. I don't know why that's the case, but it's fun to see all of the confused people wondering how a bunch of weirdos ended up in their garrison.

Chrth asked:

What is your favorite transmog outfit in the entire game?

Alliance tier 9 leather, also known as VanCleef's Battlegear. And not for the cleavage window. I think it's a super cool design that evokes the SI:7 feel. Given my rogue is a human, being able to resemble a member of Alliance Intelligence is fantastic. I love armor sets that carry a motif like that -- either reflecting your faction or your class. The Judgment set for paladins was one of my favorites for that very reason, though it looks a bit dated these days. Lightbringer, the tier 6 set, has replaced Judgment as my favorite for paladins.

gazaa07 asked:

Has anyone else noticed that the Blacksmiths at the Garrison all use the Darkmoon Hammer for Anvilling? It's really weird.

It's super weird! Why Darkmoon Hammers? They're made out of wood! You're going to beat red hot steel into a sword using an old wooden mallet? I hope you enjoy being on fire, smiths.
