In the end, we can say the new Alienware lineup is a strong follow-up to the last generation, with plenty of power for those who want it, and a fresh, modern design. That glowing trackpad is still a little weird, though.

With such high-level graphics and processing capability, plus amazing sound quality, the Alienware 17 would have everything it needs in its arsenal to fully immerse gamers in their games. If only it weren't for the screen's colours ... you might want to hook the laptop up to a separate monitor.

The aluminum/magnesium casings are incredibly sturdy and feel high quality, the keyboards are bounce-free and tactile, and the crisply angled designs – which sensibly put things like hot-air vents at the back, and push bulkier ports as far toward the rear as possible.
