Overall, the controller works well, feels good, and costs a bit too much. For the meantime, you can use a wired Xbox 360 controller (naturally, via USB) as well as Nyko Bluetooth controller and Amazon Games head Mike Frazzini tells us he expects many more will support Fire TV in the coming months.

The controller isn't necessary to play games on Fire TV -- you can also use the Bluetooth remote -- but the controller comes with 1,000 Amazon Coins for purchasing games and content, and offers a set of comfortable, familiar buttons that will be practically necessary for more advanced games.

The Fire Game Controller itself is pretty basic, with a standard Xbox-style button layout and design. It connects over Bluetooth and has the same set of buttons for media playback as the standard remote, which is nice, along with all of the proper buttons, triggers and bumpers.
