  • Sound quality I mostly listen to podcasts. The voices are quite clear. good
  • Video quality No comments
  • Ease of use Pretty straightforward. Appreciate the hardware buttons. As a podcast listener, I appreciate the 30 second rewind for when I've missed something. good
  • Portability I disagree with people suggesting to just get an iPod Touch for a little more $. I have a smartphone for apps; this is for listening and is nicely sized. great!
  • Battery life Can listen for days without charging. great!
  • Media support No comments
  • Capacity Has way more than I use. Actually, would have liked a smaller capacity model at a little lower price. great!
Detailed review
I had a 3rd generation nano that had gotten pretty well-used and beaten up over the past few years. I considered other brands - especially as I did not like the little clip-on square 6th generation model. This isn't perfect, but I like it a lot. I'm sure I use it differently than a lot of people in that I use it mostly for podcasts. For my purposes, there is way too much memory; I could have made due with a smaller capacity and cheaper model. The shape, fit, and finish are great. The new earpods are ok but don't fit my ears as well as the old buds. The interface is easy to use. I like the 30-second rewind feature on the podcast screen for when I miss something that was just said. I didn't notice it at first, and rewinding with the slider was a pain. I actually became fond of the old versions way of ordering podcasts in reverse chronological order, but it is okay that they changed that.

Does it have an external speaker? I'm also looking for a podcast player, and want to be able to set it down and listen when I'm weary of earbuds.
