I upgraded from a 2007 MacBook so the leap for me was quite significant. The multitouch trackpad is quite intuitive. It makes no sound whatsoever, quite a change from my older machine, whose fan would turn on very quickly. Writing on the keys is easy and effortless. It's very light yet sturdy. The only design minus for me is the black keys. I definitely prefer silver on silver, as in the old Powerbook design.
I was worried about the capacity of 250GB since my older machine had over 300GB. But I simply reorganized my large files and stored them on an external disk. Also the SD slot will come in handy in case I really need to expand storage.
What about the display? Well - as is well documented - it is truly remarkable. I actually now spend more time surfing on the MacBook than on my iPad just so I have the chance to experience stuff on the retina display. It's THAT gorgeous. It's like the difference between watching TV normally or in HD. Once you get used to HD the normal viewing format seems lacking.
Definitely recommended for the creative professional - writer, blogger, artist - in all of us.
