Overall, Time Capsule does exactly what Apple told us it would do: make it easier for the vast majority of users to start backing up regularly over their network. That's to be commended, and if you're a Mac user and you've got the coin, there's no reason not to consider a Time Capsule when the time comes to replace your router -- we've always found Airport devices to be rock-solid, and Time Capsule is no exception. quote

Based on the significant improvements added via firmware ... Time Capsule clearly wasn’t ready to ship to customers when it went out the door in late February. However, those updates have ironed out many of Time Capsule’s initial glitches, leaving a solid backup device in its place.

So, if you want Mac backup in one simple unit, there is no better solution than a Time Capsule. And this one is slightly improved over the last. But unlike a year ago when the first generation drive came out, there are other options that are slightly cheaper.

Apple has done a fine job of building an easy way for Leopard users to perform Time Machine backups over the network, but don't expect advanced NAS features.

Minor criticisms aside, this is an excellent product. It might sacrifice configurability for simplicity, but that's exactly what many home users want. And with the new capacity upgrade, there's never been a better time to buy a Time Capsule.

Time Capsules are very easy to use, but it seems there is a design flaw that can cause the power supply to overheat. I need a backup device to lasts much longer than the computer it's backing up. The Time Capsule does not meet this goal.

There are many other drives that can serve as Time Capsule. Use a third party drive (LaCie or whatever) if you need media storage due to performance issues with TC.

The built-in WiFi router is amazing. It is without a doubt the best router I've ever had. It hasn't crashed ever or dropped the connection ( very common with every other router I've tried). It was easy to set-up. I thought I'd use time capsule's HD for time machine, but...

I've spent >100 man hours trying to make the Time Capsule work because I have a few Macs in the house and the Time Machine backup is seamless. This was a complete waste of time. This router has MAJOR design flaws that make it run way too hot. By far this is the worst networking component I've...

If you're a Mac user this is a must have IMHO even just the simple fact of wireless backups. They have to be using QoS for things like iTunes and Apple TV because the stuff just works. I can't remember the last time I had to reboot it because it stopped working. Some features are Mac only and my...
