Overall, Time Capsule does exactly what Apple told us it would do: make it easier for the vast majority of users to start backing up regularly over their network. That's to be commended, and if you're a Mac user and you've got the coin, there's no reason not to consider a Time Capsule when the time comes to replace your router -- we've always found Airport devices to be rock-solid, and Time Capsule is no exception. quote

Based on the significant improvements added via firmware ... Time Capsule clearly wasn’t ready to ship to customers when it went out the door in late February. However, those updates have ironed out many of Time Capsule’s initial glitches, leaving a solid backup device in its place.

So, if you want Mac backup in one simple unit, there is no better solution than a Time Capsule. And this one is slightly improved over the last. But unlike a year ago when the first generation drive came out, there are other options that are slightly cheaper.

Apple has done a fine job of building an easy way for Leopard users to perform Time Machine backups over the network, but don't expect advanced NAS features.

Minor criticisms aside, this is an excellent product. It might sacrifice configurability for simplicity, but that's exactly what many home users want. And with the new capacity upgrade, there's never been a better time to buy a Time Capsule.

This is a very good router, as most Apple routers are. It can handle large areas, it is fast, secure and simple to use. The only time I have to reboot is when I make changes to it. My ONLY gripe for this, is the lack of QOS. I tend to run an advanced network in my home with multiple SSIDs as...

New software stinks. Really dumbs down the interface. It is hard to find sittings and feel like a lot more click through. Not the clean simple interface I expect from apple.

All in all, the product is a great idea and one that really met my needs...painless, thought-free backup, built on a "server grade" hard drive. The first backup itself was excruciatingly slow over Wi-Fi (think all night +), but once that completed it was transparent... Alas, this...

Not the fastest, but a powerful combination wireless router, networked hard drive and seamlessly integrates with Mac's backup software. The form factor is great and doesn't need to be hidden from view. One of my best purchases ever. Don't need to think about it. PROS: With the...
