Gadget unicorn sightings
Gadget unicorns are how I refer to when a gadget gets massive hype, and then fizzles out with little to no fanfare due to poor reception. I think of things like the Kindle DX or the Nexus Q. Just stuff you would never expect to see out "in the wild" but when you do, you're in awe of what just came across your eyes.

gdgt Zeitgeist 2012, Part I: Best and Worst of the Year
Over the past year, we’ve scored well over a thousand gadgets. Most of those are good products, with gdgt Scores in the mid 70s to low 80s. What it will take for the Nexus Q to be successful.
News broke that Google was going to delay the launch of the Nexus Q to improve its product before the launch. This is almost definitely due to the negative press and public reception of the device. In fact, gdgt awarded the device a lowly 56 with the conclusion to pass on it. (3rd lowest score in gdgt history I believe)
So with Google now taking the time to re-engineer, I was thinking what it would need to be successful, and I am interested in your opinions on this too.

Despite all the critical bashing, I still want one as my living room stereo.
I currently don't have a entertainment center and the small setup with a pair of thrift store speakers would be nice. If I could get one used or discounted it would be great. I have a several android devices already to use with it. I am probably more of the targeted market than many of the home theater enthusiasts with stacks of devices hooked up to their mega stereo.

Nexus 7, Jelly Bean and more get announced during Google's keynote for I/O 2012. Are you excited?
