Samsung built a 110-inch version of its MicroLED 'Wall' TV
Samsung has launched a 110-inch MicroLED TV, and it’s now up for pre-sale in Korea. The tech giant has been showcasing massive displays that use MicroLED technology over the past two years. It unveiled a 146-inch TV called The Wall at CES 2018, and it showed off a 75-inch model and a 219-inch display at the same event last year.

Samsung promised at CES last January that it would deliver a 110-inch UHDTV this year, and with just a couple of days left to spare here it is. Apparently rolling out in China, the Middle East and a few European countries first, there's no word on price (the 85-inch version that launched earlier this year had a $40K pricetag attached when it launched), but can you really put a price on a TV that's bigger than a king-size bed? That's right, at 2.6-meters by 1.8-meters there's more than enough room for well-heeled VIPs or employees of large companies and government agencies (the target market for the S9110) to catch some z's on it -- and bring a few friends. It's available for custom orders just before we see the new generation of Ultra HD (including a 105-inch curved model) at CES 2014 next week, although most of us will be looking for TVs that actually fit inside our living room. Update: Even though the set is custom order only, Samsung has confirmed to us that the basic edition costs 15 million Korean won ($142,000~) -- but who sticks with just the basics?
Westinghouse's 110-inch 4K television costs $300,000, is built to order (eyes-on)
We must admit, we were a bit surprised when we heard that Westinghouse -- not exactly the first name in HDTV -- would be bringing a 110-inch 4K HDTV to CES. Naturally, once we got to Vegas, we had to see the thing for ourselves. Its size is as impressive as you imagine, and the native-res 4K video looked really good on such a massive screen, with nearly 180-degree viewing angles and vibrant colors. Unfortunately, the unit we saw was an engineering test mule, so the back was all exposed panels and circuit boards and there was some ghosting on the screen itself. However, we were assured that those willing to pony up the obscene $300,000 asking price can get a flaw-free TV custom installed via special order at the end of Q1 of this year. JVC busts out "world's largest" RPTV at 110-inches
It might not be as fancy as the ongoing plasma and LCD wars for largest display, but rear projection displays can have size wars too, and JVC looks to have the largest yet, at a spankin' 110-inches. The TV uses JVC's proprietary "D-ILA" liquid crystal panel tech, for a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, and pulls 220w of juice for powering all its glorious pixels. As usual, there's not much of a plan yet for commercializing this display -- the main purpose of the prototype is to show off a new screen tech from Toppan Printing that is manufactured as a single component -- but there's always bragging rights and booth extravaganza action to be had.
