No, this isn't about Smash Bros. In fact, Famicom Dojo probably won't be about Smash Bros. for a good few years. Famicom Dojo is a new show from Powet.tv and 4 Color Rebellion about our favorite subject: old Nintendo games. Combining clever comedy with in-depth coverage of old Japanese game hardware, specifically the Famicom and its Disk System.Surprisingly, not all of the comedy comes from the appearance of the Famicom. Other people think it's a little silly-looking, right? Maybe we're just jealous because its player 2 microphone makes the system vastly superior to the compromised hardware we received in the US.

Vinnk from 4 color rebellion, when not covering Nintendo, spends time in his other life as an English teacher in Japan. From that life comes this quirky anecdote of his school outlawing Animal Crossing (Doubutsu no Mori, locally). We understand outlawing gaming in school, but why specifically Animal Crossing? Turns out, some school officials have been checking the link history found in the computer lab and found that kids were spending a lot of time looking AC-related sites and not studying. With what else those children could be looking at -- porn, flash games and Joystiq come to mind -- is Animal Crossing the premiere threat? Sure it promotes mass violence and filthy lifestyles, but couldn't officials just set up a firewall or turn the internet off? Leave Tom Nook out of it.

While PS3 owning hopefuls wait outside all week for their chance, Wii fanboys have time to come up with cheeky alphabet columns. Over at 4cr they've developed a column where each day, using a letter from the alphabet, they post another detailed and debatable nugget about the Wii, they've made it up to R for Relaxation. It's like the 12 Days of Christmas -- but with the alphabet, and no FIVE GOLD RINGS!A is for Aesthetics, E is for Exclusives, L is for Longevity, each letter brings up a different concept. One of the most interesting columns was O, for "Is the Wii Obsolete"? A topic that gets brought up over and over again in our comment threads. 4cr goes into exceptional detail about this debate and comes out the other side writing, "Basically, the answer is a resounding no!"By next Sunday's Wii launch they'll end of the alphabet. The column is cute, but now the real hard letters come: X and Z ... oh wait, Zelda!

  • Nintendo of Korea not Nintendo of Korea

It's no mystery what Koreans enjoy doing. They enjoy gaming and have continually embraced the medium with open arms, creating a market big enough to rival the largest on the globe. Originally, Nintendo was distributed via Daiwon in the region. In July, Nintendo launched their own Korean branch to tap into the potential of the market. Turns out, that didn't really happen.Upon visiting the "offices" of the new branch, which, according to the employees within, is not a part of Nintendo and things are still very much run by the ever-pleasant Daiwon, 4cr tells of a sad state of affairs. When asked whether these fine individuals were employed by Nintendo, one employee became particularly enraged, shouting "Did you see Nintendo written on this building?! We don't ****** care about that ****!"So has Nintendo given up on the territory or are they taking their time to launch the Wii first before committing personnel?[Via Joystiq]

By way of the 4cr, we're presented with screens for what is being called Mogitate Tingle no Barairo Rupee Land, or to us English-speaking folk, Freshly-picked Tingle's Pink-colored Rupee Land. We're not exactly sure what that is supposed to mean. The only thing we know about the game so far is that it follows Tingle from the days of his youth and through his travels, he meets a rupee-headed old man and woman who looks like she could of been one of the background dancers in an old Madonna music video.[Via 4cr; Thanks Nushio!]
