Entropy discounts Founder's Packs for Steam Sale
The Steam Summer Sale is that glorious time of year when we drop money on games that we subsequently won't remember purchasing until months later, leaving us collectively scratching our heads and asking when we bought these titles. So how'd you like to add an early access MMO to that pile of games you won't remember you have? All three of the Entropy Founder's Packs are now available at a 33% discount until the end of the Summer Sale on June 30th. The sale coincides with a recent update to the game introducing the gladiatorial combat sport known as NOVA, a free-for-all brawl where five people enter and only one leaves. The smallest package available gives players access to two character slots as well as full game access, with higher tiers including a variety of extra ships, more character slots, and bonus character creator options. If it sounds like it's right at your speed, jump in on the deal before the end of the month. We've included the latest video interview with the devs after the break.
Entropy lets players fight over star systems
Forget fighting over small patches of dirt in some fantasy arena; Entropy now lets you conquer entire star systems. The space sim launched its first major update today called Hostile Takeover. The core feature of the patch is a three-faction PvP system that allows players to fight over, conquer, and protect outlying star systems from their enemies. Factions must destabalize an enemy system in order to cause a crisis -- a limited window of opportunity to swoop in and cripple the enemy's space station. If this is done, then the system changes hands. "With support for up to a hundred players in the same match, we expect some truly epic battles," said Artplant Producer Jack Wulff. Entropy is currently available through Steam Early Access.
Space MMO Entropy hits Steam's Early Access
Norwegian game studio Artplant, responsible for Battlestar Galactica Online, has announced another new space MMO entitled Entropy. The persistant, open-universe game is available through Steam's Early Access program and features dynamic trading and space combat in a sandbox world. The game currently sells for $19.99, but Founders packs ($99.99) are available for those looking to get in on the game early with a little more ooph. All wealth and XP progressions from this early access period will remain through to launch. You can check the game out on its Steam page for more screenshots and an impressive gameplay video. See the Game of Thrones MMO in motion
This is the first footage of Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms, the upcoming free-to-play browser MMO from Bigpoint. It ... um ... it doesn't look as thrilling as its source material. Nice music, though.
Game of Thrones MMO subtitled 'Seven Kingdoms'
The free-to-play, browser-based Game of Thrones MMO from Bigpoint has finally picked up a title. The Unity-powered MMO will now be known as Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms. The game is set take place right at the beginning of the series, as King Robert Baratheon is killed and the entire kingdom of Westeros falls into chaos. Bigpoint is working to craft the game with Norwegian studio Artplant, which also helped create Bigpoint's Battlestar Galactica Online.Few gameplay details have been revealed, apart from that fact that "players are challenged to form alliances through Player vs. Player (PvP), Siege combat and politics to control Westeros." GDC 2012: Bigpoint discusses the Game of Thrones MMO
The Game is coming. It had to be said. And for fans of George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, that one little phrase elicits some powerful and mixed emotions: excitement (to actually wander about Westeros) and dread (will it actually be Westeros?). There was even a collective cringe among some Massively staff when the announcement was made that Game of Thrones was becoming an MMORPG. Could such a complex world translate well into the virtual realm? It made the transition to television pretty well in HBO's series, but a free-to-play browser-based MMO is a whole other beast. We're pleased to say that fans of the books and the series can breathe a little easier and even look forward to the upcoming title becuse it's going to be gritty, it's going to be gory, and power will shift like the winds across the Dothraki Sea. Massively was able to sit down with Jorgen Tharaldsen (Producer at Artplant), Alan Dunton (Public Relations Director at Bigpoint), and Rob Ollett (Executive Producer at Bigpoint) to discuss details about what's coming.
