Twitter will serve up Spotify links as 30-second clips
When Twitter first announced Audio Cards that would put songs in your social feed, SoundCloud was the music service of choice at launch. After the feature has been available for well over a year, Spotify tracks will now show up in a similar fashion. Any tweet that contains a link to a song from the streaming service will offer a 30-second preview in your timeline. Spotify clips will also appear in that curated Moments feed, which is how the company broke the news today.
Twitter's Audio Cards bring more music to your social feed
By now, you've likely noticed that Twitter slapping new Cards in your timeline on a regular basis. Well, now you're about to get more sound. The company announced today that the Audio Card is on its way to iOS and Android devices, and it'll allow you to listen right from the social feed. Not wanting to hold up your browsing, the content will continue to play while you scroll through the rest of that collection of tweets. What's more, the offering is getting a hand from streaming services, but for now, the first one to opt in is SoundCloud. While that may see like an odd match, rumors circulated a few months back that Twitter was looking to snatch up that audio service, and SoundCloud continues to add new features that make it much more of a listening option than one for producers. You can expect podcasts and more to get cozy in your timeline from the likes of NASA, NPR, Pitchfork and many more. Audio Cards are still in the testing phase, but they're said to be rolling out for more "partners and creators" to use soon.
Creative teases Sound Blaster Axx with the most forced puns we've ever seen
It's been a long, long while since Creative spruced up its Sound Blaster audio hardware, so a teaser for something new certainly has us intrigued. The page mentions little beyond an Axx name and that there will be a "whole new generation" of the technology uncovered on May 30th. There's a contest to win whatever the device might be if you're astute enough to predict the future name, but this may be a softball question given the not-so-subtle hints. Between terrible puns about the "axx-traterestrial" coming and winners getting to "axx-perience" the technology first, we have a feeling that any name that doesn't put "Axx" front and center is out of the running.
