  • All the World's a Stage: Joining the right circle

One of the most common difficulties many roleplayers face is that of finding other people to roleplay with. To help overcome this challenge, All the World's a Stage presents a guide to finding roleplayers in three parts: "finding the right realm" for roleplaying, "joining the right circle" of roleplaying friends, and "wearing the right mask" to attract other roleplayers to you.So, here you are. You decided that you want to give roleplaying a try, so you picked an RP server and started leveling up. You even tried roleplaying with one person you met along the way, saying "Hail, traveler! Would you like to undertake this task with me?" Things were going along quite nicely for a few minutes until the other person said, "Dood, this quest suxxors, lol," and you realized that something had gone horribly, terribly wrong.A mystery baffles roleplayers everywhere: why is it that even on a space like an RP server, set aside for roleplaying, it can be so hard to find other people to roleplay with? Even if you have thoroughly researched the question of which server is the best place for roleplaying, still you will not be happy there until you find a circle of friends whose roleplaying you can appreciate, and who appreciate yours in return.

  • Visit LotRO's dangerous High Pass

The Lord of the Rings Online site is featuring the High Pass in its "Exploring Middle-earth" series. Located in the Misty Mountains, near the Vale of Imladris, it used to be the most commonly traveled route through the area. Lately however, it has become overrun by goblins and giants. In fact, the LotRO site reminds us that it was in this area that Thorin and company had to get away from some boulder-hurling giants -- and anyone that has been around giants in-game will know that they still maintain this annoying habit. There is a small encampment (pictured) at High Pass that offers some quests, and is a good area to visit in the mid to upper 40's. It's also not a bad place to do your selling before or after a trip to Goblin-town, which isn't too far away. Visit the official site to find out more about the history of the area.

  • Drysc weighs in on the mysterious lost Titan city of Uldum

It seems like the possibilities of Uldum, in Southern Tanaris, have sparked the imagination of lore fans and adventurers ever since the first person turned in the Discs of Norgannon out of Uldaman. The wealth of Information we recieve from the quest about the intentions of the Titans (those whom the disc calls "The Creators") and the origin of not only the Dwarves, but possibly every sentient race on Azeroth, is tremendous, and Uldum only promises to bring more of it, revealing incredible secrets about the origin of life on this and perhaps other worlds. Unfortunately, since we apparently need the Plates of Uldum to access it, it remains closed for now, and we're stuck with speculation about what could lurk in its halls. However, today, Drysc commented on the possibilities himself in a forum thread. While all he really confirmed is that they DO plan to open it at some point, it's still more than enough of a bone to get the old speculation machine turning. Warning: Spoilers ahead!

  • THQ announces Band Mashups, Wii exclusive rhythm game for April

Never let it be said that publisher THQ is opposed to trying new things. Sure, the studio may have more than a passing fancy with licenses the way most of us appreciate oxygen, but the studio has been known to come up with an original idea now and again -- before summarily slitting its throat. THQ's latest sees the company wading waist deep into the crowded waters of rhythm gaming with Band Mashups, a title that you'll only be able to play on the Wii when it ships out the door in April. Currently being pieced together by the Giants: Citizen Kabuto devs at Planet Moon, Band Mashups is described by THQ as "the ultimate band battle," offering both single and multiplayer rhythm gameplay, 70 "over-the-top musical weapons," and more than 150 tracks across five different styles of music, including rock, funk/hip-hop, country, marching band and Latin. Sure, it sounds like a lot of music, but as THQ explains, the game's track list is actually made up of 30 different licensed tunes from the last 40 years, each recorded in five different styles. We're unsure what to make of this, though the idea of hearing some of our hair band faves in the style of a marching band is enough to keep us awake at night clutching our Def Leppard blankets.%Gallery-15552%

Super Bowl XLII lands later today like expansion launch day for football fanatics. The New England Patriots are coming off a perfect 19-0 season and if they win today's game they will be the first team to have a perfect record for the season. The New York Giants, on the other hand, haven't had a chance at the brass ring in 8 years and are clearly the underdogs.Confused? Let me translate: The Patriots are the Horde in Arathi Basin and the Giants are the Alliance. Ah, I see the light bulb above your head now.For those of you who enjoy both WoW and American football, what are your plans today? Did you call off a raid to watch the game? Or are you logging in during Super Bowl hoping for a less crowded server? Let us know.

  • Hardcore Giants fan opts for HDTV over trip to Super Bowl XLII

We've polled you fine folks before to get your take on whether sporting events are better seen live and in person or on an HDTV, and while responses tend to vary, one particular Giants fan recently made the decision to enjoy Super Bowl XLII from the comfort of his own home rather than jetting down to Arizona with a pocketful of Benjamins. Said fan has yet to miss a New York Giants home game in 17 years, but after mulling it over with his better half, they collectively decided to plunk down two large on a new Samsung and made plans to host a sure-to-be-riveting party. Of course, judging by recent HDTV sales and home theater installations in the New York region alone, it's pretty safe to say that they aren't the only ones making this choice. Our only concern is that the fan somehow believes his TV purchase will last (read: not be replaced) "for 15 years" -- something tells us he was misinformed.

EA Sports sent us a tip on how we should bet on the big game this Sunday. According to EA's Super Bowl XLII simulation in Madden '08 the New England Patriots defeated the New York Giants with a final score of 38-30. EA Sports would also like to point out that over the last five years the group has had a perfect record of predicting the Super Bowl winner. The Madden '08 simulation used each team's current roster and player statistics. If the simulation holds up, the Patriots would be the first team in NFL history to have a perfect 19-0 season. The full release and video of the simulation can be found after the break.

  • Giants show off eco-friendly HD mega-scoreboard

These HD mega-scoreboards are becoming commonplace, but who cares! They're still sweet. Next up is San Fransisco Giants and their 3 million dollar 31 1/2 feet high by 103 feet wide screen made by Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision - same peeps that did up the HD screen at that horse track in Japan BTW. Plus, in good 'ol San Fransisco style, this scoreboard is comprised of 3 million low power LEDs and the stadium's power consumption is supplemented by hundreds of solar panels. There are hundreds of flat panels scattered around the park, plus more are going in the dugout seating section making this one high-def loving stadium.

Planet Moon Studios, developers of MDK, Giants, and the PSP-exclusive Infected, have been working hard at reviving a old Sega classic. After Burner: Black Falcon is yet another PSP-exclusive endeavor from this respected developer, and 1UP has the exclusive scoop on the game. They talked to Bob Stevenson on the game, and he explains: "We were interested in taking a classic arcade game like After Burner and adding a bit of artistic license, Planet Moon-style. We were careful not to go too crazy as the game has its own essence that we didn't want to mess with."The classic game will be getting some unique story and character development, something the team at Planet Moon has always been good at. With 30+ single player missions and extensive multiplayer modes planned, you may want to keep your eye on this one on its journey to a Spring 2007 release.
